Though I had stayed at other Leela Palaces like Goa, Kovalam, Mumbai etc, but not stayed at Leela Palace Chennai yet. All Leela properties are execllent, massive, but Leela Palace Chennai is best of all. It's a royal palace to stay, in each & every corner there is a feel of luxury. I had personally checked their rooms and other facilities and provided booking for our guests to stay. Organised lot of business meetings at their board rooms and banquet halls. Recently in Nov'13 we organised our distributors meet at Leela Palace, Chennai. All our guests are very much happy and feel good to organise the meeting at Leela Palace Chennai. Their service is excellent, foods are very tasty, all their staffs are very cordial & pleasant.

I stayed there for 3 days during a conference. It was quite amazing and relaxing. The room was quite spacious and luxurious. Aside from a one-off power failure at the very last hour of my stay, everything else was to a very high standard. There were three very good restaurants in the hotel. The food in the Indian restaurant was delicious; the best Indian food I ever had in my life. I have to admit that I did not try any other restaurants in India . They could have been as good. All and all a 5* treatment. I would definitely go back to the same place in my future trips.

Room Tip: ask for a room with the sea view at higher floors.

I stayed at the Leela on a 2-night trip. The rooms were on the smaller side but very comfortable and well-equipped. The bathroom was huge with a lovely view over the sea. Service was very reliable and check-in and out was smooth and quick. Ate at the Chinese restaurant, which was quite good as well. If you're looking for a 5-star location, you can't go wrong with this place.

Room Tip: Sea views are lovely

My family just back from a 5 night stay at the Royal Suite and this is one of the best hotels in Chennai for service. The staff are excellent and take great care of the guests. I spoke to other hotel in house guests and all shared the view that this is a fantastic hotel, made fantastic by all levels of staff.
We have decided to make this our regular hotel in Chennai a major switch as I am a lifetime platinum member of another hotel chain but prefer the 'Palace' for future stays.
When all facilities around and in this hotel are in operation it will most certainly draw many guests as the central and beautiful sea facing location is also most convenient for anything you need to do around Chennai

Room Tip: Sea facing rooms are an added bonus as the view is beautiful. The garden suite is unique 2 rooms and...

We travel very extensively and have stayed in hotels all over the world for both leisure and business. The Leela Palace rates as one of the most pleasant we have experienced in more than 30 years of travel and compares favourably with the Oberoi and Shangri La standards. We stayed 4 nights on the 'stay longer and save' package in early November 2013, which at around $150 per night was tremendous value for money. We used the one-way airport transfer and were met by the driver from the chaos of Chennai airport - always a worthwhile expense to reduce the stress when arriving in India in the middle of the night. As GHA members, we were upgraded to a deluxe sea-view room and checked-in in our room. Close to the sea on an inlet, but not on the sea, the hotel has a pleasant view; albeit there‘s no hiding the rubbish/trash flotsam and jetsam tat is such a feature of urban India! Do not plan for a beach holiday in Chennai – it’s a toilet! Back to the hotel, the room is finished and furnished to a very high standard and, like all areas of the hotel, has a comfortable, hushed and relaxed atmosphere. Good sized room with separate dressing room/closet and very good size tub as well as twin wash basins and shower with excellent and consistent water pressure. For the very fussy, the turn-down service was perhaps a litlle early at 4 p.m. Breakfast presents an excellent spread of Indian, Western and Eastern choices as well as plenty of fresh fruit, bakeries, and smoothies. The made to order Masala Dosa is delightful, but so too are all the Indian breakfast dishes with the colourful and tasty chutney choices. The staff do a good job of meeting with guest’s needs without being too overbearing and although the breakfast room was quite busy, it never seemed to be crowded. The pool is quite stark but the environment is pleasant and the water comfortably warm; the only drawback was the very intrusive noise of construction at the neighbouring property – this is clearly beyond the control of the hotel but does not make for relaxation. Likewise, the main road leading to the hotel is currently a mess, but once made-up will imporve the envirnment considerably. The fitness centre is well equipped and little used; we made use of the steam rooms by giving 30 minutes advance notice. We dinned at Jamavar and enjoyed a delightful Indian meal; however, by venturing across the road at the entrance to the hotel we found a local restaurant offering good local dishes at a fraction of the cost. We visited but didn’t use The Library Blu bar, which appeared to be very techno-modern and designed in tune with the contemporary Bombay Beat. As a final testament, we enjoyed our stay so much that we returned to the Hotel for our final night after spending 4 nights on business at the Radisson Blu in Central Chennai. In conclusion, the owners, management and staff have done a wonderful job of creating a truly luxury hotel and an environment of calm and relaxation that stands in stark contrast to chaos and madness of the surrounding city.

Room Tip: The Premier room is very good and only the very picky would value the extra cost of a Duluxe room.

We stayed 5 nights in the Leela Palace and, overall our impression was very good. This hotel is less than 12 months old and has been built to a high standard in a great location in Chennai. It has had some financial troubles so some areas such as the Spa etc. remain unfinished. It is located right on the coast with views over the tidal river estuary and the sea. We had a large corner Junior Suite and the room and the view were great. It is always a little necessary in India to accept that your luxury hotel is extremely close to people living in poverty....and the Leela is no exception to that. The fishing village on the beach is a very messy place and certainly the contrast to the hotel is not so easy. However, the estuary, the wader birds, the open sea and sky are a major advantage compared with downtown Chennai...and yet, it is still very close to everything...

The quality of food in all the restaurants is VERY high. Especially the Chinese which is exceptional. Breakfast and lunch Buffets in the main Spectra restaurant are enourmous affaires with, I think, at least five separate kitchens serving different styles of food. Everyone in the hotel is charming but the service is variable. We felt that there was some lack of communication and often too many managers standing around and not enough real attention to the service. We are perhaps too critical but at the top end of the Indian Hotel hierarchy, it is right to expect a pretty seamless service, not to have to ask for the same things each morning. We did make our comments directly to the hotel before leaving.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view and the largest room that you can afford!

To describe simply - "Please go for it". Please stay and experience at least once. Yes! They welcome you the traditional way of "Aarathi", Making the check in at ease and making you get settle down at your room - palace. This is the only hotel where i found a place exclusively to keep our baggage/luggage. The bathroom has got separate toilet, separate bathroom and a bath tub out. See it to believe it. The bedroom had the sea view which is a visual delight. The rooms were utmost clean and ...what am i talking...The food, Stay, experience will definitely be simply superb. You will not feel like checking out.

Room Tip: We stayed in the first floor, smoking wing. The room has a separate living room, a bedroom open to t...
