Owner description: This ancient shrine to Shiva is centrally located and among the area’s most popular landmarks.

All the usual smells, incantations and bustle of a Hindu temple with some amazing architecture. The Gopura (the main tower) is completely encrusted with dramatic statues (all with a story to tell). Lots of smaller shrines with the main one closed to non-Hindus. But lots still to see and soak up. A good place for a discussion of what religion really is, a saunter around the temple or an architecture lover's feast. I came away with a blessing for our wedding anniversary. As you leave by the main entrance, there is a good silk goods about 50 meters straight ahead on the right. Opposite is a crafts shop in an old traditional house with a modern annex. Be quick as they are going to tear the old house down and build a modern one!

For architectural lovers, this temple is a sight! Built by pallavas in 7th century, this temple is an amazing place.
It can be very crowded during festive time.
The temple is surrounded by shops. This temple is worth a visit and worshipping.

PS: Beware of pick-pockets!!
