If you want to experience the old Madras atmosphere... a beautiful temple with a temple tank. Do not miss the bookstore (Giri Traders) and Karpagam mess (south indian restaurant).

The temple contains the cultural and historical references of some of the major kings in India. The shrine of Shiva and Shakti were air-conditioned and it is excellent for doing meditation. Watch out for 'flash' crowd during special occasions!

Peaceful place in the crowd. You can spend an 1-2 hours from sunset so enjoy and calm your mind. Very easy to reach out. You can take 1A (A/C Volvo) bus and reach Thiruvanmiyur. Kapalleshwar temple is one of the oldest temples in Tamil Nadu and is heart of the Hindu culture and religiosity in Chennai. For a Hindu, this temple would provide a great place where you have the space and time for long darshan and prayers and places to relax.

This is a great temple with great history behind it. The Temple is located in a sprawling campus and is very well maintained. The Presiding Deity is very powerful and all your Wishes will be fulfilled..

Kapalleswar temple is one of the oldest temples in Tamil Nadu and is heart of the Hindu culture and religiosity in Chennai.
For a Hindu, this temple would provide a great place where you have the space and time for long darshan and prayers and places to relax. The mind is at peace when you are here and with many cultural functions like music, dance and drama related to Hindu religion and Tamil language, this is a must visit place to have an idea about the culture of Tamil Nadu..
With markets close around the temple, one can buy anything related to Tamil culture including musical instruments, dance costumes, Indian costume and gold jewellery, Religious books etc.
The best part is you can be on your own with no touts around...
With best approachability by bus or train, this can easily fit into any traveller’s itinerary . Bets time to visit is between 6-9AM and 5-7 PM
