Visit during the "Margazhi Mahotsavam" to enjoy classical dance and vocals. This is a religious institution make sure you do not offend the locals by acting weird.

“that's a very nice Shiva temple”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

It is a brillant example of Dravidian architecture. It is a temple dedicated to lord Shiva, the so-called destructor, but there are too some other small places for lord Ganesha, etc. And besides there is also a renovated tank where people can take sacred bath.

“One of the main things to see in Chennai.”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

I went with a local on the back of his moped to this temple and he showed me around it, explaining all the details. To be honest, as I'm not a hindu, I was only really interested in the photo opportunity from outside the temple.

“Lord of Mylapore”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

Visiting Chennai with out visiting this historical dn holi temple of Kapaleeswarar the the visit is incomplete.

Presiding Diety is Lord Shiva also known as Kapaleeswar.
This is an ancient historical temple exista even earliers to British period.

The main fstival is Panguni festival also called the 63 nayanmars festival clelebrated for ten days during the March every year.conclude with the Wedding of Lord Kapaleeswar with Karpagambal ( Parvathi )

A must place to visit and witness the festival

I am resident of Mylapore having the chance of witnessing this festival every year.

The temple pond is donated by he Nawab of Arcot therefore the muslims and hindus share the pond for their respective festivals.

A rare jesture never exists anywhere in India
