The Coromandel has improved since my last visit. The lobby is now refurbished, it now looks like an airport lounge instead of a railway station. I was "upgraded" but the Club rooms are still old and tired so I stayed put in the same regular room but with access to the Club floor for breakfast. Some upgrade. Later I realised that the Club Floor rooms come with a free one way airport transfer. I never got it and no one told me about this.

Still struggling to find an identity but much better than the old Coromandel. Neither warm, nor slick and nothing great about the food. The Park down the road is better value for money

Usually we use to stay at the park ,but this time i was with my boss for an international monetary workshop so we stayed at taj which said to be lhw.
Initailly we were happy that door boys are very polite and ready to smile and help ,but the rooms are very dull and old as compared to park and also quite expensive but one good thing is its clean enough ,an ordinary western wine cost like a hell ,at everning we had dine at prego and i would say its lovely and good.
The most unhappy incident was as we thought to go to express mall we booked a car from the concerge and the guy who handle it is very rude and boastful as if we are asking him a car without paying fee,its so embarassing and may be becaz we are african as i saw him smiling at a german lady right before us and thats kind of favirism made us so bad inside such not not happen u hotel like taj which boast the world abt there royal service ,i wish necessary action should be taken and start acting like professional .otherwise its ok

The staff are very courteous and always ready to render their assistance. Loved the location of this place, it's so closeby to wherever we wanted to go and to all shopping spots. Had dinner at Southern Spice before leaving, the service and food quality was excellent!

We stayed in the Coraramdel for one night after returning from Tirupati. I shared the room with my parents. The room were great, food was yummy and the service was impeccable, even the extra bed that was laid out was comfortable.

I am definitely returning to this place.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for four nights and
we selected this hotel because of the Tripadvisor
reviews which seemed to confirm the hotel was ok.
We have been to Madras on two previous occasions
during the past 20 years.
After staying at the Taj Coromandel hotel we realized
that most of the people only stayed for one night and
it is impossible to form an opinion of a hotel in this
short space of time.
We were on an internet Xmas/New Year package for
four nights which included half board which is breakfast
plus one other meal per day.
After checking in at 1pm we had to wait for over 4 hours
for our room to become available as our package also
included an upgrade which turned out to be a slightly
larger room. We were provided with room whilst we had to
wait for our room booked room type to become available.
The booked room type was described as a “Luxury Room”
but my description would be a Superior Small Compact
room and certainly not a luxurious room. The first
four floors of the hotel have been renovated and the
other three higher floors were going to be renovated
at a later date. The “Luxury” rooms are not spacious and
after you set up the two suitcases plus carry on luggage
there is not much room space. Bathrooms are nice and the
rain shower is very good. Retractible door locks are quite
uniqie for India but the absence of bedside clock radio is
annoying.
The concierge and restaurant staff are very attentive and
most of them excell whilst other staff are very stoic and
mundane.
On the second night of our stay we were informed that
our package only included breakfast each day plus one
additional meal for our entire stay. A printout of our booking
stated that breakfast and one meal was included for the
entire stay.
After complaining to the restaurant manager, the assistant duty
manager, the duty manager, the senior duty manager and then
the actual manager it was deemed that we could have one
additional meal as the wording of the package details was
highly ambiguous. They would not honour the other two
nights that were supposed to be included in our package.
This took us nearly an hour to sort out and my wife and I
were extremely embarressed by the incident as it was New
Year’s eve.
We have travelled to over 110 different countries in the world
and stayed at more than 600 different hotels worldwide.
On rechecking our booking conditions via the internet site
the following day it revealed that an addendum to the booking
site had been added after our initial booking had been made
and this created the confusion with management as it was
not there when I made the original booking. They changed the
rules and moved the goal posts. Very sneaky and in my
opinion and very dishonest!!
Our package also included a free tour and there was no
mention that we had to pay car parking fees and also
entrance fees and no guide - this was just a taxi ride around
the city. Another misleading statement.
This hotel is supposed to be an international hotel but
the buffett every evening did not contain any international
dishes and the food was absolutely and categorically terrible.
The meat dishes were all bone and grissle and the chicken
dishes were all bone and no meat - just gravy. We could only
have some rice with gravy as there was no meat. The dishes in
the metal containers did not keep the food hot and all the
food was quite cold. Not good for bacteria contamination.
The food produce was not sourced for quality - they were
just sourced for the cheapest price. I would suggest that all
hotel managers have the lunch or dinner buffett at the Taj
Vivanta MG Road Bangalore as the food quality, variety and
presentation here would be the best in the whole of India.
Internet in room WiFi is charged at US$15 per day.
A bottle of cheap US wine (value - US$15) will cost you
more than US$200 in the three star coffee shop. Ripoff!!
They try and justify the wine prices by saying there is a 58%
tax, however, this tax is only on the initial purchase price and
not the retail price. Throughout India you can purchase imported
wine for around US$20 and take it back to your room and
drink it - this a much better option than paying over US$200 ++.
The coffee shop - Anise, is basically just three star and
needs to be renovated. Management needs to employ
some proper qualified chef’s as the food is way below
standard for a five star hotel. A good option for dining away from
the hotel was the “Mainland China” restaurant which served
excellent food at very reasonable prices.
Our previous hotel was the Taj Vivanta MG Road Bangalore
and we had big problems at this hotel also as initially they
would not honour the room type we booked. The manager
did eventually agree to give the room type we had booked
and blamed the booking on a typographical error which had
appeared a number of times on my print out.
In summary, you really need to carry a printout of all pages of
your bookings with Taj Hotels as otherwise you will not get
what you are paying for as the onus is on you to prove the
details of your booking.
Management did provide us with a complimentary airport
transfer on departure and we thank them for this.

With family I landed in to this hotel on 30th Dec 2010 afternoon. 31st December - every year we'll celebrate in a hotel, It was clearly mentioned (orally and in writing) at the time of registration that we are three people my son is 14 years old, still they have blocked a room in which you have a little space to move for get about your son. After negotiations they have shifted to another room which is very old. Had a great dinner in Anise, team is very good. 31st Night we had booked table in "Southern Spice" a great south Indian music and dance program, memorable. Food is not up to mark, but the programs were excellent...
