Owner description: Adding another feather to its intellectual cap, Chennai is now home to South Asia’s largest library. So if you are a book lover and need a break from the city’s commotion, this is the place for you. The Anna Centenary Library is an eight-story structure that has recently added to the city’s growing modern landscape in the Kotturpuram area. A Braille section, children’s corner, replica of the "Tree of Knowledge," an auditorium and an amphitheater make quite an impression on visitors.

May be you dont like books.
May be you dont know tamil

Never mind ! A library with 7 floors and several wings with sections for different genre, languages etc.

Key is you can select any book from the interactive kiosk .

Librarians are also so helpful. Stroooongly recommended to visit.

“Nice begining”

This is place where you can start to build imagination of ordinary people life style in India. Of course this picture will be more cleaned than in real but it;s good to base on something. Only problem is entrance fees - Indians do not promote that place for foreigners :(

“Chennai's Pride”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

Nice to have such facility. Really doubt any other Government public facility avaialble like this ,equivalent in terms of size and quality! GR8 to see the range of english and tamil books for kids. We have spent almost 2 hrs there with our kids easily. A MUST visit for chennaites. Wish the same quality is maintained in future also. 'coz the kind of facilities and comfort (incl AC) is first of its kind i have ever seen in govt. set up for public in india!!!
