“Reclining Lord-A visit to heaven”

Ananthaa Padmanabha Swaamy Temple
Reviewed March 12, 2014

Anantha Padmanabha swamy temple in Adyar, Chennai is one of the landmarks in chennai where the Lord Narayana also called Anantha padmanabha ( meaning Reclining Lord on whose naval a Lotus is there). On the Lotus resides Brahma. The temple is very well maintained and is situated at a place just away from the main road making it quiet and calm. There is a big hall adjacent to the temple for marriages, music festival concerts etc.

Makes you feel calm...wonderfully clean...an area to sit in front of the main deity and watch the pujas, just mediate..or just soak up the divine bliss and peace.
An experience not to be missed...

This is an fine temple of Lord Ananatha padmanabha and connected with the big excellent hall for Bhajans and discourses . The hall can accomodate more than 1000 people and it has an excellent ambiance . I attended a Thirupuggazha bhajan there was left speakless with the chorus singing and the vibration.

Anantha Padmanaba Swamy Temple shrine is a sleeping posture of Vishnu. The deity is well illuminated compared to the Trivandrum temple. There is a well-regulated crowd on auspicious days. The Navarathri decorations are awesome. It feels good to sit and listen to the several bajans and concerts that are conducted in the adjacent auditorium through which one has to compulsorily pass through to get the prasad before exiting the temple. Any first time visitor will be surprised to see such a neat and beautiful temple right in the heart of a residential area. One can choose to visit on a Saturday, which is more auspicious to this place. There is easy parking place available around the temple.

The Anantha Padmanabha swamy temple in Adayar is a replica of the famous temple in Tiruvanandhapuram. The Lord Vishnu is in Anandhasayanam posture on this Snake bed with goddesses Mahakalshmi at his foot.
The temple is neatly maintained. Parking of vehicles outside the temple is also available. The temple would be crowded in Saturdays. So if you expect a peaceful worship plan accordingly.
