It is a quite rare thing in Chennai a good Japanese Restaraurant hidden in a small street. It is completly afordable and the quality of the food is very good.

Finally made it to Momoyama. And, without a name board it's difficult to find! Look out for the lantern. The interior is functional, kiosk style, smoking permitted, Can get quite noisy. Retro music. The menu has all the usual choices with photos. We ordered salmon, prawn and tuna sushi. Good quality. ( Avoid the fried starters). Then chose the bowl meals, Okayo Don and Shrimp Tempura Udon. Good portion sizes. Tonkatsu, pork cutlet, if you are into the breaded stuff, is a good choice, with rice and soup, and plum dipping sauce. No desserts. It's a pricey meal - if you go in for 3 pieces per person sushi and one bowl meal, be prepared to pay 1000 per head, or more. Better than Dahlia and different from Teppan. And Akasaka is way too far to go. If you have a yen for japanese food, good place to visit.

For the price at which the sushi and the maki and all are dished out its worth it. In fact a plate of maki would suffice if a person is on a normal diet. Its healthy too. Sometimes they offer a complimentary salad which tastes out of this world. Sushi joint here is for some amount of quiet conversations and chatter, as such the service would be a bit relaxed. If you are on a time control just let them know. Far east folks frequent this place and they are ok with it. My take is that for beginners and pros on sushi it is an ideal joint. Decent price, decent service (and they do take your word seriously), decent atmosphere and you could have a quiet eat there. For those with an Indian taste try the tuna or salmon maki (salmon you would get depending on fresh supply). Adventurous ones eat what you want.
