For all you cigar smokers out there, there is a decent cigar longe in this hotel. Their selection of cigars are reasonably good. It is so difficult to get a nice place to smoke a cigar in Chennai, head over to the ITC

The rest of the facilities of course is fantastic being an ITC property. Very quite hotel though

We had a great stay at this rich and completely new property in Guindy district in Chennai. It was just 9 kns from the airport, and we got a smooth check in, great welcome and a great sendoff. The service was impeccable - outstanding staff, courteous and helpful beyond the call of suty.

The rooms are large and well-appointed, airy and full of light (with heavy curtains to block the light for sleeping times), Its high-tech and the iPad in every Tower room makes the experience out-of-this world! You truly feel like you are living in a sci-fi world!

The breakfast buffet is magnificent as is the evening happy hours with free beverages and appetisers. Cafe Mercara also had excellent food. My daughter was thrilled with her first use of a hotel salon - she found the experience simply fabulous.
The pool and gym were top-class (though the women's changing room smelt of construction materials!), clean, hygienic and fully-equipped.

The only downsides are the weird one-mile loop that circles the entire hotel to get to the main lobby and the miles of corridors that one has to navigate to get to any place inside the hotel. And there was a strange sickly-sweet smell in the room which went away only by Day 2 (we checked out on Day 3) which no one could figure out. Also, Guindy isn't close to any of the Chennai sights, the Marin or Elliot beaches, Kapaleeshwar temple at Mylapore or the shopping district at T-nagar or Adyar.

But despite these isues,I would highly recommend this to all my friends, especially at these promotional rates. I wish this hotel all success and hope it survives despite all the grand, unused spaces it has!!

Room Tip: Tower rooms currently best value for money, You get a Rs 1500 coupon as well as free wifi for 30 mins daily and happy hours 6-8pm where you get free alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well asfree yummy appetisers - more free salmon than I have seen in any hotel - basically, you don't need dinner!

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We are truly pleased that you enjoyed your stay at ITC Grand Chola and appreciated the service and the room features, especially the iPad. We are glad you liked the food at Madras Pavilion and Café Mercara Express, we endeavour to wow all our guests with our culinary offerings and are pleased we succeeded with you.

We have made a note of your comment on the women’s changing room smelling of construction materials and thee smell in your room – we have informed our housekeeping department of the same.

As for the time it takes to reach the main lobby and the miles of corridors one has to navigate – the size of the hotel is something we are proud of but we are sorry for any inconvenience it may have caused you.

Guindy is fast becoming one of Chennai’s emerging business districts and we have the recently opened Phoenix Market City mall in the vicinity – something to keep in mind on your next visit to the hotel. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the near future.

Warm regards,

Philippe Charraudeau

We made full use of the introductory offer for a 2-night stay. The service was excellent everywhere - house keeping, room service, pool side and at the restaurants. And we saw that the staff was really making an effort to maintain the hotel's cleanliness.

We stayed in the Tower (3) block - this entitled us to a large room, and the complimentary happy hours (6-8pm) with drinks and snacks. The kids enjoyed controlling the room lighting/AC/doors via the in-room iPad as well as the nightly hot chocolate and we tried out the different pillows on offer. The breakfast buffet in the Madras Pavillion was sumptuous and every food item we had was fresh. Service was extremely attentive. The only complaint I have is that for a breakfast place, it is dark with heavy furnishings, and there's no natural light. This was true of the restaurants at the hotel that we visited - none were bright and cheery.

The 30m pool on the 5th floor was really clean - you could see the other end under water. The gym is nicely equipped and everything is brand new as of now!

The hotel is massive and I do wonder about the architecture design - huge amount of unused spaces in the hotel, huge air-conditioning & maintenance costs, and a weird entrance that requires you to circle around the entire property before you pull up to the front lobby.

But it is a luxurious hotel - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Grand Chola and would recommend it to our friends.

Room Tip: Tower rooms are spacious

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We appreciate that you were pleased with the service and that you noticed how hard the staff works to maintain the cleanliness in a hotel of this size. We are glad your kids enjoyed using the iPad to control the various features of the room – we are particularly proud of this hi tech WelcomEbutler service in our hotel.

We have made a note of your comment on the huge air-conditioning and maintenance costs – we are pleased to inform you that as the largest LEED platinum certified hotel in the world, we ensure that all our energy comes from renewable sources so you can enjoy yourself without the guilt at ITC Grand Chola.

We look forward to your next visit to the hotel and to the opportunity of serving you again.
