“Worth getting through all the Red Tape....”

Barracuda Bay Sport Fishing
Reviewed March 15, 2012

Once you get past the Indian Government Red Tape it is well worth it. Plan well ahead if you want to fish, it is not Barracuda Bays fault but rather since you are entering the Port of Chennai you have to go through Immigration hoops. You will need to send a copy of your Passport and Visa (showing the Immigration into India Stamp) we took digital Pictures and emailed them at least 1 week before hand. When you get there you have a few more hoops to get through before you can get in. Start early to give yourself time and hide your cameras until you get on the boat not allowed in the Port.

Once we got onboard we had a great time. There was 4 of us and with the 3 person crew it was a little cramped on the 27' Mako Polo. The fishing was not good but that's why they call it fishing and not catching. The crew tried hard and kept us out longer than our 3 hours trying to get all of us to reel in a fish. We reeled in 2 King Macks and a Bonito but since we had not arranged a place to cook them (check with your hotel) we gave them to the crew.

Decided to do something different on our visit to Chennai this time.
Came across Barracuda Bay Sport Fishing and was pleasantly surprised
by this well run team. Manoj and his team are very professional in
organizing everything well.
They follow all norms and standards to International Level. All of us enjoyed
the trip very much. Recommend highly.
Wish Barracuda Bay Sport Fishing all the best.

Manoj Chacko took us ( a group of 7 ) for fishing on an evening trip. The weather was ok and the monitor in the boat was showing lot of fish in the vicinity. But unfortunately all of them avoided us. another group who stared along us caught two big fishes. Even though we did not catch any fish, the trip was memorable. I will try it again. Hope this time the lady luck will be on our side.

Its an experience. The rates are very reasonable and the people concerned are very professional and knowledgeable . I suggest any one visiting Chennai to try it once.

We took an early morning charter and the weather was good. Our guide Manoj was extremely knowledgeable and has considerable experience fishing in the waters of Chennai.

The safety equipment like Life jackets etc. were provided and instructions were clear and concise.

We caught a 20kg King Mackerel and a 4 kg Barracuda, which was an exhilarating experience.

I would recommend people to try this out as this is an experience worth repeating.
