i visited the restaurant today expecting a huge positive as isha's restaurant. as sadhguru jaggi vasudev is very respectable ! but, alas, these people are spoiling his name !. the food was so so or bad and not value for money at all !. combine this with pathetic service and couple it more with wrong billling !. god save the sadhguru !. we ordered drumstick soup , it was lukewarm and the taste was just ok. we tried to order the mami special platter but they said it was already over though it was still not 3 o clock. they did not even bothered to enquire later nor did they express any apology !. we ordered adai avial and it came with kuruma !. when asked they brought the avial then !. we ordered maddur vada , it was just ok. then came the dosa, similar like any other restaurant but the price was very high !. then came the sandwich !. we ordered something and what came was different !. when asked the waiter replied it is the same thing !. then we ordered sukku kaapi , it was not at all sukku kaapi but a herbal preparation that tasted like samahan mixed with water !. the menu is very deceptive !. the price is prohibitive and they seem to advertise it is for charitable activities ! that does not mean that they should decieve the customers who come to eat !. the ambience is pretty good and that is the only positive feature !. finally came the bill. it was for the other table.when we pointed out, they brought another bill, again it was wrong and overbilled. again, they brought another bill !. finally, we managed to pay and get out of this restaurant. we also bought one pickle bottle on sale , which was however quite good. but, they have to go a long way to save sadguru's name !. the staff are not paid it seems and they looked depressed. or may be, overdose of yoga !.

Lunch on a working day. Having been highly recommendedby some who focusedon its "healthy" food, we went. A few people around, very sparse crowd. Interiors beUtiful, with many ancient kitchen implements. That is all there is to this place unfortunately....

We ordered a couple of soft drinks.... Both sounded great...... But did not arrive until i had even had my starter and main course, and even then only one drink came first, that too after being reminded. I find this shocking, as there was very little activity at the counter where the drinks were being prepared. My drink was supposedly ginger and mint, but tasted of neither, not even after using rich imagination. It tasted of lime juice with green colour added. Mum had cucumber and gooseberry sherbet, but said it did not have any taste of the gooseberry.

By then she had a plate of plantain flower vadas ... Deep fried lentil cakes.... Which was ok. I had a drumstick soup which was lukewarm and didnot have any taste of drumstick at all.

For mains, she had a rava dosa, which was standard like in a hundred other restaurants, while I had rice flour pancakes (akki roti) with some black eye bean gravy, both just adequate and edible but nothing special.

We gave up, not bothering with dessert, and left. Certainly wont ever go back

Isha is a brand unto itself! No denying that. Why else would a random visitor like me would visit this God forbidden restaurant if it were not for the Isha name. Let me state the positive right away before I begin to trash this crap place. The ambience is stunningly soothing, considering the ever dusty feel of Chennai. Once you enter into the premises you know you are going to have a good time absorbing the ambience itself!

But, wait. Let me be genuine here. If you just experience the ambience and buy some 'ashram made' stuff like curry paste, healthy cookies etc chances are you return home with that positive feeling. But on the other hand, if you choose to taste some of their restaurants' offerings, chances are you will not only curse the outrageously priced restaurant, but also curse the God man himself for such a let down. How on earth one can justify a wheat Sambar rice served in bowl that can be filled in five tea spoon's content being charged an outrageous Rs.150 plus taxes. My foot. This restaurant is for those who have so much money that they don't mind splashing it all over or for those whose taste buds have died long before their death! Such a terrible experience with the food and I will never again eat into their restaurant, even if someone is going to pay for me. Such a horrible food!

Yes, Mahamudra provides holistic, tasty wheat-based. food (and some some nice rice/ragi.. based also).
But not many people know that it is one of the FEW places in the crowded Mylapore/Luz area where one can have a cuppa quietly after some shopping without being asked, 'can I get you the bill' ! And the place has a good sized parking area - a luxury in a crowded area.
When you visit the restaurant for lunch or dinner, don't miss out their wild (red) rice kheer - served in a nice dish - it is brilliant.
If you want to visiting there for an occasion - tell them in advance - and you will have zapped by the way they honour the occasion - you should experience this yourself - instead of hearing from me !!
