Owner description: Story-based walking tours and short excursions that zig-zag through the beat and the pulse of the city; from its oldest parts to its busy bazaars, through dance and art to its rural heart. Unlike sight-seeing tours, these trails focus on the everyday sights on the streets - the local customs, symbolisms and the fascinating stories behind the mundane rituals of life. Hosted by a team of articulate storytellers, these trails are an enjoyable way for visitors to appreciate the local way of life. Pick from nine different tours in Chennai.

“Storytrails worth a try”

It was a simple tour with great useful information and we learnt a lot. Samarth was a great story teller and those in our group really enjoyed the tour.

“Very interesting and a good idea to have this in Madras!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2012

I went on the Bazaar Trail and couldn't believe that there were such places in Madras. I have lived in Madras for a long time but just haven't ventured beyond the conveniences of the supermarkets!!.. This is a wonderful idea and concept to bring to Madras - our city is so rich with culture and heritage and a walk is one of the best ways to explore parts of the city. And from a woman's point of view - it was really good to have company. Meandering through some of these trails on your own can be quite daunting whereas as part of the group it was great fun!

“Different perspective of exploring a new town...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2012

We took the Peacock trail, and Akila was our story teller.

This is just a brilliant concept of exploring a new town. It is not your run of the mill tour guide thing. Mix of history, mythology and stories make up for a very interesting experience. I hope and wish that Storytrails expand to more cities in the country.

Wish them all the success in the future!!

“Strongly recommend it”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2012

We took a mix of Peacock trail and Medley. Mrs Akila was our story guide. She was wonderful in telling a story tat will captivate our interest and was willing to share a lot of information or details that otherwise would be overlooked. I would strongly urge you to go on the trails as lots of interesting stories that you will never get from the guide books.

“Wonderful day in Chennai. A MUST do!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2012

We spent a very interesting and enjoyable day taking in the Peacock trail with Akila in the morning and the Bazzar trail with Samath in the early evening. They are both so knowledgable and friendly and gave us an experience we will never forget. A morning of history followed by and evening of energy with so many highlights along the way.
We thoroughly recommend story trails and hope we have the opportunity to come back and experience the true Chennai.
