Umaid Mahal is a really nice hotel with excellent staff. We loved our stay here even though my boyfriend was sick half of the time. They were so helpful and helped us finding an excellent doctor who did everything to make him feel better, he had an ecoli infection (not from the food from umaid mahal so).

They picked us up from the bus station for free, which worked out very good. Easily found the taxi driver and felt safe.

The rooms were very nice and the beds really comfy and spacious. The bathroom was also really good and clean. The Air Con also worked well.

The restaurant food was excellent, I really enjoyed it, even tough it was quiet expensive for India. Breakfast was ok but all depends on what you like, they had a little buffet with several things, different every morning. I liked the coconut pancakes. Even though I think fries for breakfast are pretty strange, but they do that in India everywhere.

A little complain I have to do and that is about the day tours and half day tours. The drivers are nice but it is really expensice and you get that cheaper everywhere else. And if you want to go for a ride to somewhere, go outside an pick a tuk tuk so you only pay about 50R instead of 150R.

I would recommend this hotel to everyone staying in Jaipur.

We stayed three nights in the beginning of april. Arrived by the nighttrain from Delhi it was wonderful to get into the fine room at Umaid Mahal and relax and have a quick meal served in the room at the late hour. The room was spacy for three persons, bathroom very nice and all clean and decorated with taste. The staff is very friendly and serviceminded, we got good help for the further planning of our journey. Breakfast is rich and after an active day in the town Umaid Mahal is a very welcome retreat, perhaps with a meal in the rooftop restaurant.

Good Decent Property especially for Foreigners visiting India. Too much decorated like Palace & Old Havelies. Whole property is very much beautified with Metal Front Door, paintings on the Ceiling. Photographs of Kings and Queen in the Room can be avoided.

The hotel is a wonderful place with great rooms. It really looks like a palace. The furniture is so cool, the decoration is amazing. Hot water all day. Great bathroom setup. VERY clean. Great service. Nice terrace restaurant with very good service.
Great taxi service with guide. Free pickup from trainstation was wonderful.
Swimming is pretty neat but cold.
Breakfast buffet was great. I would recommend this hotel to anybody.
The Hotel is not in the middle of the old city but the location is great, not far from things, in a pretty clean, quite and pretty area of the city.

Room Tip: We asked for a balcony which gave us a very nice room.

Stayed here for 3 nights during Holi 2013. We arrived exhausted after having taken a dawn flight, and the hotel manager was kind enough to let us check-in early. Four tired travellers were very grateful for flexibility!

The hotel rooms & linen were super clean, and the breakfast was good quality and hygenically prepared. Every room has a small balcony, which is a nice touch.

Cab drivers were always confused between Umaid Mahal and Umaid Bhawan, so I'd recommend taking a map with you when you go out.

The hotel is a bit hard to find if you're renting a car and your driver is not a local, which was our case. It is not located on a main road, and the surrounding of the hotel is a bit grim. But carry on, because you'll not be spending most of your time here anyway. Our day was spent visiting Amber Fort, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, and various other landmarks in Jaipur. We practically only spent breakfast and dinner in the hotel.

Breakfast was served in the restaurant in the basement and was great. Although choice was a bit limited, the servants were very attentive.

Dinner on the rooftop was incredible. Who would have thought Indian food could be that delicious? The cook really knows how to adjust the taste of the food to a foreigner's tongue, so it was not spicy at all. What was really surprising was the price. We only had to pay 40 USD for a feast for 6 persons, with non-alcoholic drinks for each of us.

Everything was crazy cheap with this hotel, without compromising the quality. It was an excellent stay with excellent hospitality from the staffs from the moment we checked in.

The design of this hotel is also noteworthy. Beautiful classic interior throughout the hotel made us feel like we're staying in a real Mahal.

Room Tip: During summer, the rate for Deluxe Room with safe etc is slightly more expensive from the basic room...
