We stayed here for a night and it was pleasant. The rooms are nice for the price you pay. It is R200 cheaper for a single person in a double room. Although you pay R75 for wifi per device per day, it is worth it given that the rates are cheap. They have a nice terrace upstairs but not much of a view. There is also a shopping centre nearby for those keen to shop.

The only negative thing I found was it was a bit cold at night (in February) and the duvet (if you can call it a duvet) is thin.

Overall, the guesthouse was well kept and staff were friendly.

We stayed at the Atithi after our travels north and south and before we left India.
Our rooms were clean, the hotel's food was delicious, and the service was good.
We were able to get computer access, newspapers, directions, and had a nice time there.
We recommend the place.
Our trip was in January 2012 but the date is not available in the drop-down box.

Atithi Guest House is clean, relatively quiet, reasonable value and conveniently located close to train and bus stations, and a 10min/Rs50 auto-rickshaw ride from the Old City. It also serves up amazing Indian food.

Whilst these aspects ticked most of our boxes, we feel it still has some way to go before being worthy of a 4.5 TripAdvisor rating (the rating it had at the time of our stay).

Our issues revolve primarily around service, and just some annoying aspects as to how the guesthouse is run. Anyone interested in the details please read on...

1. Hot water - hot water is only provided between 7-11am and 7-11pm. We showered three times within these timeframes but only once had hot water (on the third attempt lukewarm water dribbled out for a couple of minutes before stopping altogether). This issue was exacerbated by the louvre windows in the bathroom which are fixed open (not a comfortable experience during winter!)
2. WiFi – whilst this was one of the fastest internet connections we had in India (not a difficult task!) and also with pretty good signal (even worked in our room at times), you have to pay per device and per day (Rs75). Whilst we don’t mind paying for WiFi (even though it was the first such time we had to in over 4 weeks in India), you have to physically hand your device to the reception staff for them to enter the secret password. This seems an unnecessary hassle (particularly frustrating for me as I had to return several times to reception for them to re-enter the password), and can become expensive if you have multiple devices. Given most, if not all, travellers have a need for WiFi these days, it would seem much less annoying to simply increase room prices and offer WiFi for free.
3. Restaurant service – the kitchen here served up some seriously good Indian food (close to the best we’ve had), and as a consequence we ate all our meals at the guesthouse. Unfortunately the experience was spoiled a bit by the absence of wait staff (you have to physically go to reception to place your order, sometimes waiting in line behind people checking in, or having to search around outside the hotel to actually find the staff). Our breakfast was a bit of a shambles as well, requiring four separate trips to the kitchen to get cutlery, napkins, milk/sugar for the coffee and a replacement muesli which came not as ordered (probably a mistake of the reception staff).
4. Laundry – offered same-day service and was reasonably priced, although on unpacking the clothes discovered a number of items were still wet (lucky we checked!) and one of our jumpers came back with what looked like ink marks.
5. Bedding – the two single blankets on our double bed were inadequate for the winter cold. We didn’t ask for additional blankets though so can’t say how readily they would have been available.
6. Room key – when you leave the guesthouse you have to leave your key with reception. We don’t generally like doing this due to security issues, but the main issue for us was returning to the guesthouse to find our key was with the cleaning staff. It was then up to us to search the 3 floors of the guesthouse to find out where the staff happened to be, and then struggle to communicate with them that we wanted our room key back.

All in all, we had a comfortable stay at Atithi Guesthouse but would have been much happier if we didn’t have to face so many niggling issues.

We came back to Atithi three times during our Rajasthan trip because of the very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. We left our backpacks with the staff and felt at all times like our possessions were safe. We rate Atithi as one of our favourite places on our seven week trip.

Hotel nice, but robbed me. Be careful. The hotel management did not give me any compensation. Director said that all employees there work 15 years or more. But some have not even been 15 years. Apparently just they maybe lost concentration. So be careful and do not leave keys at reception. Environment friendly, the food good. Cherries restaurant is not only a chance to bring food there. Annoying is that the food must be ordered at the reception.

The staff were so so nice and friendly. Loved the food and how clean the place was! Couldn't recommend it more. Be careful of some of the rickshaw drivers outside - they believe you have money to spend from staying here. Also the 5 30 a.m. call to prayer happens right outside but that is just part of the Rajastan experience!
