When we arrived, I pulled out the binder which I thought would list available services; instead, a cockroach jumped out, one of three that we saw in the room. The room was filthy-the faucets in the bathroom were dirty from several days, I'm sure, as well as the shower. The furniture was dusty, the phone cord looked like it had been mercilessly dragged through the streets, brought back and reconnected to the phone. The restaurant was ok, breakfast buffet food limited, but filled the belly spot, though the wait staff was wonderful: professional, well-groomed, friendly, and helpful. The seats of the chairs were filthy. The front desk people were courteous as well.

3 of us shared a 3 bedroom apartment complete with kitchen, living room, and ensuites with each bedroom. We appreciated the quiet space, like an oasis in the busy city of Jaipur, enjoying the large lawn where meals and evening dance events are held. Great breakfast included. Helpful staff. Conveniently located, except for the train noises during the night.

Room Tip: The heritage rooms are glamorous but more expensive. For a budget trip, the apartments are very good value with lots of tea, milk, cookies, noodle soups, bottled water included.

Our rooms were on the first floor and they were huge, comfy and well designed.
There was a small open patio, great for hanging out, enjoying a drink and a smoke.
A nice, large courtyard has a pleasant outdoor bar.
The hotel food is mediocre, however there is a very good restaurant called Spice right next to it - so do go there for your curries.

The property is located in the posh Civil Lines area of Jaipur. As with many properties in Jaipur, as also in Rajasthan, the main residence of the property is 'Heritage'. To make it more appealing to the travellers, it could do with a coat of paint!!

Having said that, the accommodations are wonderful, well maintained. Being a budget category heritage property, one should not expect the moon. I stayed for a night and stayed at the serviced apartments behind the main hotel. Unfortunately for me, the room allotted to me was facing the railway tracks running behind the property, and the frequent train whistles and chugging was indeed disturbing. Wish the management consider double glazing the rear facing rooms, for greater guest comfort. The beds were almost period furniture, so the feeling was great indeed...one doesn't get that stuff in the 5 star hotels of today. the wall paintings added to the sense of being in a heritage property. the large sitout at Level One in the serviced apartments, with comfortable seating options, was indeed refreshing, especially in the morning! The bathrooms were clean, but the floor tiles were slippery. Maybe that's another area the property owners need to look at- from a safety aspect.

Since I was with a group of colleagues, the buffet layouts in the lawns were adequate. I didn't enquire of any restaurant in the property, so cannot comment on those. The staff has basic training, and one must understand the 'tourist mindset' engrained in them. by that I specifically mean that they will take you more casually than may be the need of the hour. To reinforce my point, a colleague's baggage was misplaced, and incorrectly delivered to another room...we had booked about 15 rooms... But search as they did over 4-5 hours, it could not be located. It was only after we ourselves sat down with their security and saw CCTV footage that we were able to locate it! So I guess some more training is required on this front.

Do I fault this hotel overall? No. Far from it. I like the idea of a former royalty of Rajasthan converting its property to commercial use in order to share & celebrate its heritage with those who value it. My suggestions of improvements in service and quality are in that context and to be taken in that spirit.

Would I recommend this property to others? Yes! And wish for improvements to happen...

First, as mentioned in other reviews, this hotel is next to the train station, with terrible noise throughout day and night.
The stunning pictures are just a few suites in the main building. The rest of the rooms (superior rooms) are situated in an apartment building at the back and are truly not up to standard. This is false advertising. (see my pictures) There is nothing "heritage" here.
There is no lounge area. the dining room is a tiny cold pavilion in the garden. Breakfast 7 to 10 was not ready well after 7 so I decided to leave.
    Reception staff is poorly mannered.
    Avoid absolutely.

    Dear Guest ,
Thanks for posting your views and opinion about Harimahal on tripadviser . Firstly, please accept our unconditional apologies for the disturbance caused by the passing trains, and behavior of our personnel . The F&B department has also been reprimanded regarding the delay in B/Fast Buffet lay out .Further,we were quite concerned on going through your comments regarding false advertising on our part and your view.... " there is nothing Heritage about Harimahal ". .For your information dear guest, we are a genuine Heritage property and the royal family of Achrol ,a small town close to Jaipur, still lives in the ground floor of the property and has been doing so since 1930 . The Hotel portion consists of 11 well appointed Suites on the top floors. Our website is very clear that we also have another set of rooms in the service apartments adjoining the main building and we have never advertised that these rooms are Heritage .We ensure that our guests are alotted rooms according to their selection of the accomodation they require at the time of booking. Our Hotel is very centrally located in the posh and much acclaimed Civil lines area of Jaipur, close to the chief Minister's residence and has always fetched top marks , locationwise.. Maybe the heavy construction work of the prestigeous Metro Project close to our perimeters prompted your negative opinion of our location.
Please be assured that should you revisit us your opinion of the facilities and services at harimahal will most definately prompt a positive review .
    Yours sincerely ,
    Andrew Alexander
