“Quaint and fantastic”
Reviewed April 12, 2012

Perhaps the best ever hotel we've stayed in in India.

People: Very hospitable, communicative and helpful staff and owner.

Resto: The rooftop resto is soooo good - very yummy food, great ambience & deco and don't even get me started about the lovely evening atmosphere with the fort in the background. The only limitation is their menu - it isn't the most imaginative one. The service isn't as slow as they say :)

The hotel: The hotel itself is loaded with all these tiny and big artefacts - some are quaint, some are garish, some are cute, others creative. Whatever it is, you can't miss the 'feel' ;) Be prepared to climb many stairs in a very narrow stairwell - but it isn't half as bad as the walking you gotto do in Jaipur anyway!

The room: Our room was, 202, and it was very pretty and clean. It was rather big for the price we paid, the bathroom was immaculate and the color theme was cute. We loved the artwork in the room - it wasn't as overloaded as the hallway or common area, which was nice. The only issue I had was that the towels were over-bleached, so they smelled funny and our Aircon was a window a/c, so it made quite alot of noise. But that's hardly a dampner given the comfy cot, fluffy pillows and like I said very, very clean room.

Overall: I would reccommend this place very highly. We loved everything about it. Mr. Singh has definitely got it right!

Room Tip: If you're happy going for the deluxe rooms - then choose 202/203. Very quiet, big rooms with the...

An absolute hit of our tour of India! Mr. Singh and the crew were great hosts, and everything was completely pleasant, from the room, to the service and to the food, without ripping us off, as most other hotels in Rajastan :) . Perfect, pleasant, even more than that - would anytime come back!

+ Friendly service
+ Great food
+ Great price
+ Great rooms
+ No hassle, no pressure, unlike in most other places

- The closest ATM is a bit far from the hotel

Go for it!

Always booked and well deserved. Very well known. Restaurant is great! If you are in Jaipur, this should be your top choice! (Please don't tell the owners they could charge twice as much and still be very popular.) This was the best hotel we stayed at in India - and was the cheapest!

This place was really great and a welcomed change to what we had been experiencing around India. This place is relatively inexpensive and has clean rooms with great staff. In India, these are welcomed traits. The rooftop restaurant is quite nice as well. It had a pleasant atmosphere. I think above all this place treats you fairly. This is an uncommon way to treat tourist who visit Jaipur. The management staff goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is great. i would most certainly stay her again.

BOTTOM LINE: Best place to stay if want something simple, clean, and safe.

This place was by far the best bang for our buck throughout Rajasthan. We stayed at various places including palaces and moderate hotels and this one was the cheapest (we paid 800 rupees for each night) and had the best food. Do yourself a favor and have the masala tea which is like crack (I assume), it's so good. The workers are great guys, friendly and always with a smile.
I would check around if you're going to take one of the taxi guys who hang around outside. The hotel has signs up saying they don't have recommendations for any one taxi. The guys can be persistent and are on commission so any store they take you to will be overpriced. Way better, ask where the hotel gets their bed linens (they were really great quality Rajasthani mirrored spreads) and use the jewelry store on the rooftop which had some nice silver and non-precious stones. Remember that shopping in Jaipur is expensive. I should have stuck to the Rajasthali store in Delhi (so we didn't have to carry anything on the train). Otherwise, this hotel was the best experience for us.

Room Tip: We were on the 2nd floor and it was fine. The bathroom had these cool blue tiles.

The Pearl Palace was a fabulous guest house to stay in. Spotlessly clean and very well run and with a great rooftop terrace cafe that served some of the best food we had in India (and all for very reasonable prices). The Pearl Palace is truly a remarkable bargain where you leave feeling that you've underpaid for the room.

Note: it is not a fancy hotel so don't expect the Sheraton. It's simply the best of the guesthouses in Jaipur run by a very friendly man (Mr. Singh) and his staff who were helpful and courteous and responsive. The bedroom itself can probably be described as slightly worn but spotlessly clean and comfortable.

The Pearl Palace has a sister hotel about 5 minutes walk away, called the Pearl Palace Heritage. It is more upmarket and has wonderfully appointed rooms and bathrooms in a heritage boutique hotel setting. We stayed there for one night and while it was more expensive than the regular Pearl Palace, it was only slightly more expensive and I would have preferred it for our entire stay in Jaipur but it was solidly booked for the last two nights. The downside to the Heritage is that you'd have to walk over to the Pearl Palace for all your meals but it's only five minutes away.

We stayed at both the Pearl Palace Heritage and the Pearl Palace while in Rajasthan this January. While we prefer the Heritage (it's got a lot more amenities), our stay at the Pearl Palace was also very good---and half the price. The hotel staff is really nice and attentive. The room comfortable and clean. Plenty of hot water. The rooftop restaurant is a great place to hang-out with lovely views, but there are a couple of drawbacks: the food's a little over-priced and the staff often seem surly. Also, walk up the block and then around the corner down to the larger the road to get an auto-rickshaw. They guys out front charge about twice as much as the going rate and are really pushy.
