“Jaipur Palace of power and majesty”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

Not to be missed in Jaipur. You get the feel of power and majesty, combined with exquisite art and architectural beauty, and at least some sense of what it must have been like to live there. Don't miss the first floor armoury, which is perhaps rather haphazard in its layout, but admire the ceilings as well as the amazing range of arms in the collection. The open-air "dance-hall" is magnificent too, showing off its 2 enormous siver cauldrons used to carry river Ganges water to England (to avoid contamination by anything foreign, i.e English, but look-up the history!).

“Bursting with history!”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

I loved this palace, especially the excellent museums! Just beware: people posing for photos in traditional costumes want a tip

“Great place in history !”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

- The central durbar is very impressive.
- Architecture, gateways, artefacts - impressive.
- Fact that erstwhile royals still live there made it more exciting.
- The shop within the palace property selling shawls and dress materials was good. Seemed a good place for authentic stuff like Pashmina shawls, though a bit pricey.

Dislikes :
- Touts, unauthorised "guides" and hawkers troubling you.
- Differentiation in admission ticket prices for Indians and Foreigners, though it is a private property. I felt the difference was huge, and should not be so in interests of tourism and fairness.

“A must see”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

Beautiful painted walls and sculptures and a historical view of the maharajahs lives. We didn't get a guide, but regret this a little because we lost out on a lot of detail.

“Very Interesting”

Be sure to see every section of the museums including the weaponry and wardrobe sections. Sad one was not allowed to take photos in certain parts.
