Great building of hybrid English colonial and Mughal architecture houses an eclectic assortment of sculpture, musical instruments, miniature paintings, etc. The latter is a good selection (certainly not up to par with the National Museum's in Delhi or the stellar works on display at Mehrangarh Fort in Jodphur), but the Jain paintings of dreams, nightmares, and incarnations of the goddess in the last room on the upper floor are unlike any works in those other collections. You'll also be mobbed by charming, gregarious adolescents who want to practice their English. A nice way to spend an hour or two.

The architecture of the museum was beautiful, especially from from the distance, but once inside we were a bit sad to see the conditions in which the building is and especially in which their heritage is stored. You can see some nice pieces, but overall their collections are nothing really special. The architecture of the building is nice though, although pigeons are the masters here and the whole place is full of them and their excrement (including exhibition spaces and exhibits).

If you have visited some larger museums in your travels, the contents of this one won’t ‘wow’ you, however, the architecture and local collections are worthy of an hour or so visit. We made it one of four stops on an afternoon outing with an auto rickshaw we (4 adults) had hired. Our four stops included the museum, the Surya Mandir (Temple of the Sun God), Amber Fort and Water Palace.

Albert Hall was designed and built as a museum in 1887 and the beauty of décor (though in need of upkeep) and the thoughtful linking of the rooms was evident.

The day we visited we weren’t alone. The pushing began at the ticket windows outside and continued inside with chatter, elbow to elbow filled corridors, crowds around displays and a whistle-crazy staff member trying to keep everyone moving.

We did not rent the audio tour guide and felt the English descriptions quite sufficient for our length of visit and interest.

Originally that was build by the local king to welcome and Honor King Albert from London who visited the princely state during British Raj.

The collection of artifacts of olden times takes me to the British India. Museum is very well preserved and even you have E-GUIDE devices (Like a I-Pod) which will tell you about the museum. A very good thought by the curator of the museum.
I liked it very much
