Hanuwaut's gracious space is a joy to be in after the rigours of travel in India. The extensive house and glorious garden (with swimming pool) is located up a quiet cul-de-sac a short ride from the old Pink City.
We stayed 3 nights in a large and simple room drifting between it, the garden and a quiet courtyard outside our door. We took breakfast on the lawn every day, watching and listening to the varied bird life and the strategic manoeuvres of the Peacocks. One morning I walked out into a full symphony of birdsong from the trees in and round the garden. A joy!
We had intriguing, humourous conversations with Hanuwaut which often started with a question about the family heirlooms found around the house and lead to unexpected, even magical, insights and speculation!
A couple of evenings we ate in, pre-ordering an hour or so before. Everything we ate was freshly cooked, distinctive and well presented.
We are always happiest in family-run guesthouses and hotels. The quality of information and personal attention we receive in such places adds an important dimension to our travels and Santha Bagh is an outstanding example of these oases.
We will certainly return there and I recommend to anyone reading this who shares our tastes that you make it your first choice.
Many thanks to you Hanuwaut and to your team for caring for us so well.
