We travelled to Jaipur in the last week of september & stayed here for 2 nights. We were a family of 5 adults & a toddler. Booked 1 suite & 1 a/c double room. Had a wonderful stay @ Hotel Meghniwas. The hotel is located very close to the city center. Everything was nearly perfect - from the room to service to food. At the time of check in we found that the bathroom of our A/C double room had a foul smell & when we complained about it we were promptly shifted to a deluxe double room [which was an upgrade from our booked room :) ] The food too was very delicious felt like we were having home cooked meal. The only downside of the place is that its not wheelchair accessible. The staff were very helpful & courteous. Overall a great place to stay without burning a hole in your pockets. Its more of home away from home rather than a hotel. I would definitely be booking this place for my stay the next time i'm in town.

We stayed for 4 nights during Diwali 2012 and got a really spacious suite. Pretty nice hotel, but the food menu is limited and expensive. People at the reception are polite. The place is easily located on the main road. They let us check out late as we had an evening flight...

In Brief...
Good:
Good location fairly central and nice area.
Excellent Food
Nice atmosphere
Nice swimming pool and courtyard with outside dining.
Very good service
Wifi and cyber cafe
Fluffy dog and fluffy cat
TV channels include international news BBC etc Good picture.

Bad....
No wheelchair slope to inside restaurant.
No wheelchair access to bathroom as door is too narrow.
Noisy room on front side due to road.
Limited secure parking (two cars) but plenty of roadside parking outside.

We were recommended to stay here by a friend and we were very pleased with our stay there. The owners are very hands on and delightful people. As ever the best hotels are family run. The staff are very good and seem highly motivated.

The rooms and the whole hotel is very 40's style in furniture. Very well maintained. The garden is well kept and the garden furniture is good quality. At night when it is cold they light small fires in steel bowls near the tables to keep you warm. The restaurant inside is very pleasant and the food is excellent. The food is very homely and healthy. Excellent fresh fruit and lovely fresh seasonal orange juice (winter).

Room Tip: Take rooms facing the pool/back garden.

I stayed at this hotel during New Year's Eve and the music from the neighbors was obnoxiously loud. I called the front desk to complain they said they can't do anything about it and I had to just basically deal with it. they also mentioned the music will run probably 1am+. I mean they didn't even offer a discount of some sort. Seriously the music was on blast and I felt like I was in that party. The night before I heard a baby crying throughout the night. I'm really not sure why this hotel has such good reviews but its bs. The walls are so thin. Just stay away. You can find better elsewhere.

MEGHNIWASJAIPUR, Owner at Hotel Meghniwas, responded to this reviewResponded January 1, 2014

I would like to point out that the music that was playing was in our neighbourhood and not in the Hotel premises. It was new years Eve and I cannot control what is outside our Hotel. As soon as the guest complained I rang her apologised & explained the situation offering a 10 % discount
In the morning when she came to pay the bill she said the discount was too little. I said I would give her a20% discount.but explained that it was not our fault as we were not to blame for the music in the neighbourhood. Thanks Mrs Indu Singh

This hotel could be so much better if only the service and the management were reliable. As a group we were there on Divali day and checked in dirty rooms, with the promise that they will all be cleaned very soon. Which never happened ! No staff was available for nothing and even our tour leader was powerless to have anything happen. The owner was around but arrogant and unpleasant. The place is actually quite nice and the rooms are big. That is just about it.

The Colonel and his wife have really made the perfect cozy enclave here in Jaipur. Everything was perfect, the personal service, the size and comfort of all the rooms, the unbeatable wifi, the food, the pool, the grounds, the quiet. I couldn't have asked for more.

Traveling with two other guys on a motorcycle trek around India, we stopped here and doubled up on a room for 3 nights. The room was comfortable, well appointed, and the common areas were very comfortable, and made even more delightful by the colonel and his wife and staff.

A great stay.

Room Tip: get a pool view room if you can.
