“Outstanding hotel”

We were upgraded to two suites for Christmas and had such a memorable holiday! We had two rooms that were connecting across our own private balcony. Our rooms had lovely arches to divide the sleeping areas from the living areas and a gorgeous tile floor. We ate each morning in the stunning painted dining room and had--by far--the best breakfasts we ate anywhere in India. We also had the Christmas dinner which was lovely. It started with a show and drinks by the fountain, followed by fireworks and dinner on the terrace outside. Because it was freezing, they had heat lamps and fire pits going to keep us all warm. The staff were extremely attentive and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much. We also found the hotel drivers to be extremely helpful, which made our visit to Jaipur much better than it would otherwise have been.

Upon entering the city of Jaipur, it was hard to imagine that amidst the grittiness of poverty and dilapidation, such an oasis of reflected glory was possible. But Samode Haveli, while showing its age, certainly exuded the charm and splendor of its royal heritage.

Upon entering, there is a large paved courtyard dotted with trees and tinkling fountains. It is here that outdoor seating for breakfast and other meals are served. There is also a reception desk and small boutique as well as a lavishly decorated alcove that serves as a lounge. Through a corridor is the pool area, complete with a bar and several shaded areas to lounge among pillows and matresses. This area is beautifully lit at night, and sipping some tea (or something stronger) while nestled among pillows is a great way to relax.

The majority of the property is reserved for sleeping quarters, and being several hundred years old means that there are no elevators, only narrow staircases winding through a labyrnth of small courtyards and decorative corridors. My wife and I were given an upgrade to a suite which probably could have been the Maharaja's bedroom. Like most of India, nearly every surface area was covered in decoration, and the unique character of each room was a refreshing break from the homogeny found in modern hotels. The Samode Haveli is definitely among my top five hotels if only on character alone.

The food was quite tasty, and one night our party decided to dine indoors in the astonishingly ornate dining room. Servers and staff were courteous and contributed to the pleasant stay.

There is a small business area containing a few computers with internet service. If that is occupied there is also wi-fi available at the courtyard lounge area.

The hotel is also located nearby to the city's main attractions such as Jantar Mantar and the Hawal Mahal. Personally, I enjoyed strolling the side streets amidst the locals and the deafening cacaphony of passing traffic.

All in all, it was certainly worth the extra rupees to stay at the Samode Haveli and I heartily recommend it to anyone planning a visit to the pink city of Jaipur

From reviews here I had very high expectations. Was a little disappointed. Rooms were faded Raj, v high ceilings and four poster beds but I wasn't knocked off my feet. We booked a superior room and a standard and the difference was a balcony, corridor and study room.

Pool not heated but clean. Menu a bit limited. Did have a room with PCs and free wifi- a BIG plus in India.

A great and historic haveli. Stunning swimming pool. Very nice room and tasty food. Best mojito served by the pool. It's pricey, but probably worth every penny.

Yes, we got upgraded to a very nice suite (although mostly wasted on us) but I am looking beyond that when I say this is one of the nicest places we stayed in India. Not spectacular, not over the top, but a calm, tranquille, 4-1/2 star oasis (as others have said).

Restaurant was really good in both food and service. And the staff was asgood and unobtrusive as one could wish for.

If I had any complaint it would be that the hotel is set back pretty far, maybe just over a quarter mile, from the nearest main avenue and further from much of anything else. This necessitates transportation of one sort or other, even though we really prefer to get out and walk streets in the evenings.

The service is great, the building quite special, the food excellent. The room was very clean, but the cout yards and pool water less so (lots of birds around). However we felt the atmosphere made the rest worth it. Quite a special little gem in the middle of Jaipur madness. The structure itself is quite different (small passages and steep steps), wall fresco paintings, very busy and very lovely. Would return!!

From the moment you enter the Samode Haveli you are made to feel welcome.
Check in is effortless and the staff are all courteous and dedicated to making your stay memorable.
Our deluxe suite was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. The beds and pillows are perfect, very luxurious, as are the well appointed, glamorous marble bathrooms.
The pool area is just divine, the perfect setting to relax and unwind after sightseeing in the 'Pink City'.
A delightful experience.
Thank you to all the staff, especially Mr. Singh in reservations and Gauri, Customer Service.
We look forward to staying with you soon!
