Taj Jai Mahal Palace Jaipur

We wanted to spend our 10th anniversary at a palace hotel, and basis reviews on TripAdvisor and our budget, we chose the Taj Jai Mahal Palace hotel. Booked a winter package through their website for the luxury room with a private sit out.

A mercedes transported us from the airport to the hotel (we wanted to do this in style). The welcome was traditional with music, garlands and a lovely welcome drink. The check in was very efficient and we were on our way to the room in less than 5 minutes.

It was a wonderful surprise to be upgraded to the peacock suite. This suite was very luxurius, with a living room which had plasma TV, DVD player, home theater etc., a big bed room, a sitting room and a spacious bathroom. And when they learned that it was our anniversary, they comped us a cake and flowers. Nice touch...

The property is huge and the gardens are beautifully maintained. We used a few of the facilities - spa (the swedish massage was good), the badminton court and the children's play area (for our 2 year old). There is enough to keep you occupied. The children's play area needs an upkeep and is not the same standard as the rest of the hotel.

We had a meal credit as part of the package and we dined at two of their restaurants. The food was excellent at both the restaurants. Marble Arch served multi cusine and Giardino served Italian. The service at Marble Arch was exemplary (My son saw an egg at the live breakfast counter and thought it was a rasagulla (an indian sweet) since we are vegetarians. The waiter immediately got a rasagulla for my son without asking. I was impressed with the effort). the pizzas at Giardino were great, but the service was a little slow and it paled compared to the one we got at Marble Arch, where the head chef came to us twice in our stay of 3 nights for suggestions that we might have on the food.

We also had a half day sightseeing included in our package and we were shown Amber fort, City palace and Hawa Mahal.

Overall we were very impressed by the property, the suite and the service.

Taj - thank you for making our anniversary holiday special. Take a bow.

The Jai Mahal Palace is a very nice and classy hotel in Jaipur. The whole hotel facility is well maintained and kept very clean - according to European standards. Rooms are nicely decorated with marble and colors.
Staff is quite attentive (more than other places) but - depending on who serves - not always the fastest...

All in all a very pleasant stay, which was certainly seen by all of us as a highlight at the end of our India tour.

Based on past experience of Taj hotels, we were expecting the Jai Mahal to be rather tired and seedy - and were pleasantly surprised.

It is reasonably smart, with nice grounds. We were given an upgrade to a suite, which was large - although the space was not particularly useful - and with a comfortable bed, but a little in need of updating.

The hotel tends to appeal to package groups, so the restaurant can be very busy if you are unfortunate enough to arrive there at the same time. For dinner, it is better to go to the a la carte restaurant Cinnamon, but you need to book.

Watch your credit card bill when you pay - they will try to charge you in your local currency, using a poor exchange rate, so make sure the charge is in Rupees.

Stayed two nights here, and have to say that we had a fantastic stay. The only thing was that the breakfast was not included and we didn't realize (a friend had booked the room for us) so when we did the check out, we paid for two veeeeeeeeeeeery expensive breakfasts.

We didn't use any of the amenities of the hotel as we were visiting the city, but did have the chance to see in the gardens a typical dance show. We enjoyed it with a Kingfisher beer.

The room was spacious, but you could see it was a bit old, specially the bathroom but didn't have a problem with that.

Would stay there again.

One of my favorite hotel in my 3 week trip. Only stayed 1 night. I wished I could have stayed 5!. Welcomed to the sound of live rajahstan music played by a costumed fellow, flower necklaces and attentionate staff. You will feel like royalty.

Food is excellent and live rajahstan show at night. Beautiful place!

We stayed at Jai Mahal Palace for two nights as part of our Golden Triangle tour and it was a real highlight. It is centrally located in the city of Jaipur making it the perfect place to explore the region either by foot or by car.
It is a beautifully appointed, stylish hotel which evokes wonderful images of a bygone era and is set in magnificently manicured grounds. The staff are exceptionally professional and friendly and really helped to make our stay special. Our room was enormous and luxurious; with a separate lounge and dressing room; it was a shame that we didn't have more time to enjoy it!
We ate at three of the restaurants and were very impressed by the quality/presentation of the food as well as the service from the staff. The traditional Indian restaurant was a highlight whilst the alfresco Italian restaurant by the pool was most enjoyable. Overall, I can highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Jaipur, it's definitely worth it!
