My sister and I stayed at the Jai Mahal for 3 nights beginning of October 2012. We had a wonderful and memorable stay at the hotel. The service of all staff was of exceptional quality (the BEST we have seen so far and we have stayed at great hotels), making us feel at home during our entire stay. The staff at the reception was particularly friendly and professional and exceeded our expectations.
The service at the restaurants was very good, food was good but not excellent, rooms were comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. The hotel grounds are beautiful. It is definitely the best place to stay in Jaipur.

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and looks amazing. A Taj hotel, so one expects a certain standard. Housekeeping staff and waiters were very good, charming and attentive.
However there is 300+ rooms and a long walk to elevators, if you are travelling with elderly this can be tiring. The room we were in was above a cooking area. So late at night you experience terrible cooking oil smells, despite the windows being shut. When I told the front desk, no apology was offered. The rooms are quite basic and if you are unfortunate enough to get a single bed that moves of its own accord every time you turn over, don't expect a good nights sleep!!

Room Tip: Ask whether it is near the elevators and what is underneath the room.I.e. Pool etc

This is a delightful hotel. The public areas are very attractive, the staff couldn't be more attentive and helpful and the food was good.
We arrived shortly after very heavy rains and flooding. We were given a room on the lowest floor (126) with french windows onto the garden, towards the swimming pool. The room smelt damp when we arrived but I assumed it would dry out. The room never had the sun and after five nights, my clothes were damp in the wardrobe, the bedsheets felt damp and I developed a temperature and became unwell.
I asked if we could move rooms and was offered a room on a higher floor. Thankfully, this was dry!
I noticed that the room was then allocated to someone else so I hope they had a more comfortable stay and that the hotel has tried to rectify the problem.

Compared to other 5* hotels in India, this is a maximum 4* hotel. We received an upgrade to a suite at checkin, however room was fairly outdated and maintenance was not at its best. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast is good average. Bus tours stayed at the hotel. The hotel is not comparable to Rambagh Palace - there is a whole world of difference in service, luxury, attentiveness and cleanliness between the two hotels, besides also major diferences in the surrounding hotel gardens and hotel entrance. If the budget allows, stay at Rambagh which is a real 5*L and also dine at Suvarna Mahal. The price of Rambagh is somewaht over the edge for India, however there you can get a feeling of luxury.
