There is no word to describe best your experience at the Rambagh Palace. All has been said already in previous comments I read and yet, once you have experience the Rambagh, your experience goes way beyond expectations. I have enjoyed the acres of green and immaculate land around the property, the warm welcome and vintage cars and carriage, the perfect look of staff wearing the uniform with pride, the pleasant talks with management and staff, restaurants hosts and hostess about India, Indian food and the Indian culture, the excellence of food and service, the attentive eye of the housekeeper to please you and room service staff when they set your tray. You will enjoy waking up to the sounds of 80 species of birds or so flying around the property, traditional Indian dances and flute at cocktail time, fresh home made ginger-ale like I never had before...

We were greeted by a shower of flower petals on our arrival. We stayed at one of their historical suites. Our rooms were spacious and grand. We enjoyed the hotel's historical tour very much. We were also impressed by the service, food and ambience of their restaurants. The waiters were friendly and knowledgeable.

On our last day, we decided to stay one more day in Jaipur at the last minute. And since we were going to stay at Taj again in our next destination Jodhpur, we tried to arrange over the phone with the staff at Rambagh to amend our hotel reservations. However the staff we spoke to say that it couldn't be done. So we personally went back to Rambagh again and I had to kick a fuss in the reception but in the end a very lovely staff (I regret not remembering her name) managed to extend our stay for one more night and change our reservations at the Taj Umaid Bhawan palace to the following night. Even though her fellow colleague claimed that she had spoken to us earlier on the phone and that it couldn't be done. I would like to thank her for going the extra mile to ensure our wonderful experience at Taj.

We spent four nights at Taj Rambagh Palace in March and arrived with high expectations after reading about the hotel on TripAdvsor. We weren't disappointed. The Rambagh Palace treats its guests like royalty. It's very hard to fault the service or the quality of the accommodation in this magnificent palace which is steeped in history. We were delighted to be upgraded to a more expensive room at no extra change. Nobody told us why, but we think it was because we had reservations at four other Taj hotels in India. The only complaint we had to make was about the air conditioning in our room which wasn't working properly. However, we were more than happy with the way management dealt with this. Would we stay there again? No. We are normally budget travellers. This was a one-off indulgence and we would be looking for more affordable accommodation if we returned to India. However, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rambagh Palace to other travellers who are looking for an opulent oasis of calm in chaotic Jaipur and for whom money is no object. Thanks Rambagh Palace for making our visit to Jaipur an unforgettable experience.

Stayed here for 3 nights and I can truly say the experience was fabulous - one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in . Our room was very, very comfortable - I think we must have been upgraded to a Palace room . There was a four poster bed , marble fireplace , verandah overlooking a garden area , and an amazing mirrored bathroom . Every amenity you could wish for was there, and so beautifully presented - bottled water with silk covers , hairdryer in its own silk and tasselled bag , delicious plate of chocolates at turndown every evening to name a few. As the hotel is set in the centre of very large and well kept grounds , our room ( and probably every other room ) was very quiet. The central courtyard is a beautiful feature of the hotel.
Food was excellent - a splendid breakfast each morning - afternoon tea on the lawn a very pleasant experience after a few hours of sightseeing - pre-dinner drinks in the Polo Bar with
complimentary canapes a delight - and good evening meals in the main restaurant ( where incidentally a velvet stool was brought to the side of my chair so my handbag could be off the floor , now that's service !) The pizza restaurant Steam set in the gardens was O.K but service was a little slow and the pizzas fairly average .
The small pool was located a short walk across the gardens , we didn't have time to use it but it looked lovely .
There were several jewellery and gift shops inside the hotel , all of which were competitively priced compared to the shops we were taken to by our guides . We bought some earrings at the shop in the alleyway at the end of the veranda and were given a hefty discount.

All the staff we encountered were very professional , courteous and helpful.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this excellent hotel , well done Taj .

As our trip had to be re-routed due to trouble in Srinigar, we went back to Jaipur and stayed at the Rambagh Palace. We stayed there before in 1985 and there was extensive renovation since.

Upon arrival we were shown to our room and then went to the outdoor restaurant for lunch. My wife had a smoked salmon plate imported from Norway, and I had a grilled vegetable salad that was expertly prepared, so we expected that the food would be wonderful and wanted tandoori chicken tikka for dinner.

When we went to the restaurant we told them that we did not want any sauce, wanted no or low salt, and to prepare it mild. This caused the chef to come out of the kitchen where we repeated our request about 3 times. He had a dumbfounded look on his face. When the chicken came it appeared to have been sautéed in peanut oil with no seasoning. It was disgusting and we sent it back. We then ordered shrimp cocktail and buffalo mozzarella which was ok. They did not charge us for our meal.

The room had the hardest bed and sleeping was difficult. There were too many ornate curtains and fabrics in the room. A decorator whose taste does not match ours must have had a field day. But the excess of fabric was just a dust collector. Since you get dusty in India when touring, it would have been nicer to have had a modern minimal designed room, and certainly a comfortable bed.

Upon leaving we told the concierge of our dinner episode and she took our wonderful lunch off the bill. I said it was not necessary, but she felt something should be done. The staff except where we had dinner was excellent, and it is still a nice hotel, but I think improvements could be made.

One of the best hotels I have ever encountered. Historical suite was amazing - the hall way alone was bigger than many hotel rooms. Immaculate rooms and service.
Nice to sit at the verandah restaurant and relax. Very highly recommended, but well worth staying a couple of nights at a minimum.

Room Tip: Suggest a Historical Suite - good memories to take home!

The reason we travelled to Rajasthan in the first place was to stay at the Taj Hotels after previously staying at the Taj Palace and Taj Lands End in Mumbai and watching the video of their other hotels that is always playing on your room T.V. After spending many years staying in the usual fleapits you tend to gravitate to when travelling throughout Europe when much younger we decided we deserved an upgrade. Amazing how you can justify such expense - one of a lifetime experience, we work hard etc.
Rambagh Palace was the last on our itinerary after being totally smitten with Taj Lake Palace, Umaid Bhawan Palace and several other gems I found by reading Tripadvisor.
On arrival we were in our usual awe of the sheer beauty of the hotel and the spacious grounds. The staff were the usual charming and gracious people we had encountered at all our previous hotels.
Then we were taken to the Luxury Room that had cost us A$1221 for 2 nights -admittedly that was high season. It was on the ground floor, at the end of a dark hallway and next to the Service Room - obviously the old servant's quarters. The room itself was of very average size only with a view out the tiny window to the staff area, a concrete slab and long grass. The bathroom was also tiny with only standing room for one person and no cat. This room equated to a $200 a night fee and certainly not worth the $600. Maybe if you come during the off season you can get it for that.
We are still pleased we stayed in such a beautiful palace however. It satisfied our curiosity, the staff were so friendly and helpful, the food was world class, the pool and surrounds were breathtaking and the peacocks added that extra touch. I just wish we had upgraded to a better room because really what is another $100 or so on top of $600? But then again how much time does one spend in a room anyway with such a beautiful palace and grounds to explore?

My advice: Stay at Rambargh and form your own opinion. Book that upgrade and make the most of it because you only live once. Me? I am going back to revisit all those 2 star dodgey hotels (usually near train stations) of my youth.

Room Tip: If you can afford to stay here then go all out. Don't book a Luxury Room as you could be disappo...
