“Not where you think it is!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2013

Travelers beware! A search on HostelWorld, HostelBookers, even GoogleMaps will tell you that Nirvana Hostel (now called Jaguar Hostel, by the way - Nirvana was a franchise that broke up) is on a tiny side street called Vishnu Marg, several hundred meters from the wall of the Pink City. This is not the case. Read the rest of their description of their address: Sirsi Road - Near Metro Hospital, etc. Different sites list the address differently. The property is actually about 6km or more from the Pink City, which is where everything in Jaipur that you want to see is located.

That said, the facility is quite nice, the staff is also very nice and it's quiet. This stems from the fact that there is absolutely NOTHING going on anywhere nearby. It's suburbia, Indian style. If you want a quiet place away from the bustle and killer air quality of the city, this place is right for you. If you want convenience, activity and sights-within-walking-distance...then try somplace else.

The staff are lovely, very friendly, helpful and can't do enough for you. The location is quite far out from the pink city but in some respects that's nice, away from the noise and pollution. (It also happens to be situated in one of the safest areas on Jaipur). Breakfast IS included and the staff are happy to make you lunch or dinner whenever you want. There is a good wifi connection and overall the place is great value for money. Granted their website needs updating as it says some things which now have been changed. But this is India, stop being picky!

Clean, friendly, great atmosphere and affordable. What more do you want.

Holy Cow did the job for the price. It was a little out of the way of the pink city but that wasn't a problem once we found a rickshaw driver who was willing to be paid per day to pick us up from the hostel and take us back, the distance didn't really effect us. I wouldn't recommend staying here as a lone traveller as there isn't much going on. There were four of us staying in the dorm and we found it quite cosy and quite quiet, you can hear trains going by some times, but I prefer this to beeping, which you can't avoid in India but rarely hear here. The guy running the place got beers in for us and there was a free breakfast included in the price. It was only toast and chai and an Indian option but that was completely fine be me as i'm not a big eater in the morning. The staff were fine, the only thing was when I had to leave, I seemed to be locked in and there was no one around to let me out, so I had to escape through another room and leave the door on locked. And one last thing, never any hot water and our shower didnt really work either, so I was just having a gentleman's wash the three nights I stayed there.

I stayed two nights and Nirvana Hostel or Holy Cow Hostel (the same) and the overall feeling I got from the place was just shady. I can't put my finger on it, but that's just the feeling I got. It was unsafe or anything, but it certainly didn't help that I was the only guest at the time. The room and bathrooms were clean. The owners seemed nice enough but a little on the creepy side to me. It is a bit of ways to the city centre and Pink City, but not that far. There is a junction close by with shops and cyber cafes and such. They apparently don't believe in bug repellent because I got bitten up by mosquitoes badly - the only place where that happened during my 6 weeks in India. I didn't eat anything from there so can't comment on that. All in all, if I were with someone else and didn't have another suggestion of different accommodations, I would stay here again...but maybe sleep with one eye open?

We stayed here for 2 nights and felt very at home. The owners were lovely, they own 4 of these hostels and we stayed in another in Delhi. When we arrived they had travelled all the way just to welcome us (a good 8hour journey). The rooms were standard hostel, bunk rooms. But they had A/C and WiFi.

The extremely helpful and friendly family made my stay very comfortable. It's is a very relaxed hostel and a great place to meet other travellers! The food is great and the grounds are beautiful!! Both dorms have a/c and an addition fan.

ITS ALL LIES!!!!
We stayed here for 4 days and have never stayed in a place so unlike the description! We have been travelling for 7 months now, and this is the first bad review we have had to give as we realise that you get what you pay for.
We arrived early morning and were shown to our room, all we wanted was the hot shower.... Surprise surprise the shower didn't work, we did get half a bucket of hot water between us though, and the plumber is on his way.
There is no free breakfast, which we were only informed of on the last day when we were charged 10 rupees per slice of stale bread.
There is also no free evening snack of pasta!
Free tea, coffee and water costs 25 rupees a glass
The kitchen is not open for guests use either.
There is no BBQ
No iron
No tourist information, the hostel is a 20 minute drive away from town and the receptionist couldn't even tell us the approximate cost of a rickshaw into town
There is no communal area on the roof.
However there is free indian music blaring out through the speakers throughout the hostel at 8am.
The only positive we can find for this hostel is the free wifi and the room is spacious, but the room hadn't been cleaned from the previous occupants, and the one bin in the room was overflowing with the tissues you can't put down the toilet.
