“Excellent Hotel in Jaipur”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2011

Recently stayed here for a couple of nights on a short tourist trip from Delhi to Jaipur. Was there with my family and my parents and we had a room and a suite. The property is fairly new and the rooms are very large and spacious and very well set up. The hotel is slightly outside the city which is good since it is away from the congestion of the city.

The staff and the service are excellent. The best part about the hotel was the food - the breakfast spread in the coffee shop - Okra was sumptuous and the serving staff takes cares of all your needs. Also tried out the "Saffron" speciality restaurant for dinner one night and was pretty happy with the experience.

I have stayed a couple of nights during a business trip recently in India. Our experience with Marriott started at the airport where the hotel staff were waiting for us to take us to the hotel. The hotel is a very new one with nice big and airy spaces not that far from the airport
Check in was quick and soon after I was in my room. Rooms are nice and big with all the usual amenities you expect in such a hotel.
I was thinking how to rate the hotel and I was between Very Good and excellent but there is some room for improvement in some areas and that might be related to the fact that the hotel is new and they are still not 100% where they need to be. Some of the things that need attention are
1. Some of the fittings in the bathroom are not as shiny as they should be so the quality of the materials should be not what is supposed to be for this kind of hotel. It should not cost a lot of make it look perfect ..
2. Service staff are helpful but its obvious that some of them do not have the experience they need to but that should be sorted out over time
3. Lifts.... Who on earth put the volume of the messages and the "bing" so Loud... Someone for sure can adjust them... You can wake up a dead person.....

Now I will close with a couple very positive comment.
1.The breakfast at the hotel is FANTASTIC. It has everything you can imagine but also at the best possible quality. I wish all hotels that I have been had this kind of breakfast.
2. Car service from the hotel is also excellent. Drivers are very helpful and friendly but above all drive very safely and that is a very good reason for a foreign visitor to trust them

I am hopping that by my next visit in Jaipur the few issues I have reported are addressed by the management and then the hotel should be rated excellent

As part of my trip to India, I was very lucky to spend two nights in Jaipur. My trip was organized by Amit at Goamit Holidays. Travel from Agra to Jaipur was by car and took us about 41/2 hours. As soon as we reached the Marriott Hotel we were so pleased with this new property. Our taxi driver and the staff took care of all the initial administrative details whilst we relaxed with welcome drinks. The staff were very pleasant and helpful in all matters. The room was beautiful and adequate for 2 people. The first night we were there we were not very hungry so we went down to the restaurant to eat something light. We ordered soup and toast and I noticed that the 'toast' bill was a bit high about 500 or 600 rupees. This is more than $10.00 for 4 slices of bread! We spent much of our time sightseeing and had one opportunity to have dinner at the hotel. The dinner buffet was good value for money and was very inclusive of different cuisines. The breakfast buffet too was quite amazing and was part of our package. We left with heavy hearts!

We really enjoyed our one night stay here during our visit of Jaipur. This hotel was amazing and very modern. Our rooms were fantastic and the beds were extremely comfortable. The location is away from the city but after sightseeing all day it was good to get away from the hustle and bustle of that area. The hotel service was really great they made sure everything was perfect for us multiple times. Also the hotel had an amazing lounge, dinner buffet (you must get this), and delicious breakfast buffet. The food was outstanding and we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

Stayed here for 2 nights while touring around India. Hotel is very nice, and the most comfortable bed we had the whole of our stay. Everything is very clean and the facilities are everything you'd expect of a Marriott. The only downside was the location, which wasn't close to central Jaipur, it is closer to the airport (which might be an advantage for some). All in all, a very good stay, nice hotel, helpful staff.

Stayed here as a group of three travellers in two standard rooms on the 5th floor. Staff was absolutely super: grand welcome at the entrance, welcome drink, personal conversation with the check-in assistant, escort to room.

The property is brand new, so a lot of taxi drivers have a few issues with this. If you tell your driver to turn right in front of Jhawar Circle Gate, the hotel will just be on your right side. A taxi from Jaipur train station is around 500 Rs (30 minute drive) and the airport is only about 80 Rs (max. 10 minutes) away by taxi. Don't be put off by the location, it is a peace and quiet which you will learn to appreciate after a day of Pink City shopping.

Don't use the hotel cars, be it for sightseeing or for transfers. Their price tag for a full day of sightseeing is around 1800 Rs. You can get the same (albeit in a smaller car) from company like CityCabs for half that price. Also, how can they charge 600 Rs for an airport transfer, atrocious.

Breakfast at ground floor Okra restaurant was the best we have had in a long time at any five star hotel. Big restraurant but ambient music and spacious setting make you have a breakfast in peace and quiet. Food choice and quality is the best of the best. There is Indian, Continental and Japanese choices. Waitors at the restaurant are slightly annoying, besieging you with their attendance, however, we found this more an "Indian" problem than a Marriott problem.

We also tried Jaipur Baking Company, which is the little gem of hotel cafes. It is right next to reception, but secluded enough to eminate a cafe-like atmosphere. They serve Illy coffee and the snacks are great with reasonable price (for a hotel).

The hotel gets a lot of business travelers for conferences and is also a venue for the odd posh Indian wedding. We found the hotel crowd to be really appealing compared to many other hotels that seem to attract a lot of flat-rate tourist crowd.

Bottom-line: having stayed in a number of five-star properties throughout India (be it the Taj, the Hiltons or the Shangri-La), this hotel beats them all in terms of guest attention, quality of rooms and the simple "feel good" factor you should be having, when you choose such a property. Would stay here again any time and recommend without hesitation.
