We have used this restaurant several times during our visits to Jaipur. Food, and service always good but entering and leaving hotel is not a good experience as you get pestered by rickshaw drivers who seem to make a point of parking outside this hotel in order to try and get tourist fares.

We ate here several times on a 2 week stay in Jaipur. All the varied menu options we had were tasty and great value. The staff were efficient and friendly with Manoj being a particular star. The decor is arty and the blankets for cold evenings a thoughtful touch. It is a bit out of the centre but is deservedly popular.

After a so-so dinner the night before, we were keen to get back on the right food track so we asked our guide. This restaurant was not reviewed here when I planned our trip, and thank goodness it has been since, because I have no address. Reading the other reviews, it looks like I have the right listing. The restaurant did not have a card, it is that kind of place. It also did not have all the lights on when we turned up for lunch (problem with flicker), it is that kind of place. Not packed, but reasonably full with what seemed to be regulars. Service was friendly, if a bit halting because of our non-existent Indian language skills. Food was a little slow in coming out, but then it arrived in one go for all 10 of us. The food was neither fine nor fancy, but very good all the same, and different to the Indian fare we are used to. A particular hit, highly recommended by our guide and restaurant staff, was Lal Dass - a Rajasthani lamb curry/stew. The bill came in lower than the two other restaurants we ate at on the road, which reflects its location and the decor, but we decided the food and friendly service deserved a healthy tip. BTW the toilets were very clean.

Having read the reviews on lonely planet - I had expected stunning views and a place of great character - but in reality the peacock bar had a few bits of odd furniture and a reasonable view but is nothing spectacular - a nice place to relax with a beer for sure.

The biggest issue is that it is in the middle of nowhere - with very little around it and unless you get a tuk tuk to the door and then away again it is really hard to find and then escape...
