Stay in this place was the highlight of our experience in Jaipur! I don't have words to describe the hospitality n professionalism of this very reasonable stay. Colonel along with his wife provide a highly personalized service borne out of their love for this kind of LOB. They make you feel at home and get you the best tips for moving around and the best hot spots. They're simple, unassuming and warm. The staff is very pro and polite and you get your bed tea/coffee right on dot in the provided slot. The complimentary breakfast is rich and nutritious and not rationed. The rooms are luxe and so spacious that my eyes popped when I stepped in. High quality everything is used and the bathroom is so neat and well organized. There's no dearth for shelves, cupboards and berths in the bed room. The ambience is overwhelming. We had our breakfast in the garden and it was an exhilarating experience. It's excellent value for money and highly recommended!

I have had the pleasure of staying at Colonel's Homestead 3 times, have recommended it countless times, and look forward to making it my home again in Jaipur upon my next trip.

The rooms are incredibly nice and comfortable. They come with all the amenities, including a television and an air conditioner (which, any traveler who passes through India knows is a hard to find luxury). Some rooms even have a day bed in the window - perfect for a nap or a great book. If you want to enjoy the morning or evening air, you can relax on comfy chairs on the front porch.

The breakfast is home cooked with lots if options. Colonel's Homestead is the reason I love Indian breakfast (and Indian-style coffee)

But, more importantly, the hosts go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable, get what you are looking for, and feel at home.

Want an authentic Indian BBQ? Done. Need a ride to or from the airport? Done. Want to know where to go? Want to just chat over a beer at the end of the day? These hosts take time to really get to know you, so by the time you leave, they have become your Aunty and Uncle.

You can't find a better place!

Having stayed at some excellent homestays this one doesn't make the grade.
The first room we had smelt very musty - second one not so bad; decent size with adequate bathroom. TV with Hindi language channels only.
The food was poor - breakfasts and dinners were lacking in both quality and quantity and the dinners were expensive for what they were.
The location is hopeless. It's a long way out of the centre, and the only realistic way to get anywhere is to use the Homestead's driver and car, charged by the kilometre, which adds up to quite a bill.
It was unfortunate that the colonel and his wife weren't there during our stay, as none of the staff spoke sufficient English to help us with any queries we had although they tried their best.
Hard to recommend this place.

This review is unfair to our establishment and does not portray the correct picture. Point by point response follows. (1) TVs. The TVs in the rooms have independent satellite DTH connections. ALL English channels available on TATASKY, numbering more than 15 including news, entertainment, sports and Nat Geo, Discovery etc are available 24X7 . (2) Meals. Breakfast (Complimentary). Includes porridge, fruit juice, 2 eggs to order, unlimited toast, butter, preserves and tea/coffee. Indian breakfast comprises of juice, 2 aloo parathas with accompaniments, tea/ coffee. This is by no means poor in quality or quantity. Dinner. Fixed menu and cost displayed in the rooms. Cost $5 per head. Menu, 1 chicken dish, 1 veg dish, 1 lentil dish, unlimited bread, unlimited rice, 1 salad dish, 1 sweet dish. For vegetarians, instead of chicken, another veg dish. Freshly prepared, home cooked food. Apart from that, the guests were served beer, which was complimentary. (3) Location. The meaning of "Hopeless" as stated by the guests is unclear. Our location is available on Google Maps. We are in an up-town posh residential area. A major shopping district is 5 mins walk away. 10 minutes drive to the railway station. All public transport facilities within 2 to 5 minutes walk. 2 malls, 1 multiplex, about 10 restaurants, 5 ATMs, at least 3 gyms and 3 hospitals located in the vicinity (upto 1 km radius) from our place. (4) Commuting. Metered cabs and tuk-tuks, and public buses are available just opposite our place. Taxi/cab company numbers are displayed in each room. It is not fair to say that our car is the only way to commute. The guests in question decided to use our car on their own. The government approved rates were explained to them BEFORE they decided to use the car. In fact they had discussed their site-seeing plan with two other Finnish guests and had decided to take the city-bus for commuting, but changed their plan at the last minute since they felt that it would be more convenient to have a car to themselves for the whole day. (5) English Communication. We, the hosts personally take care of our guests. Unfortunately, my wife's father expired so we were attending to the funeral and subsequent rituals at the residence of the deceased. Our guests were informed of that. Our supervisor, and driver speak passable English. Moreover, we had deployed a young MBA student, who speaks perfect English, to take care of the guests the whole day. The review submitted by the guests is therefore surprising, unfair and untrue.

We were booked into this hotel by some Indian friends and we are so glad we were. It is truly a home from home. The owner (in his 70's) got up at 5 am to greet us on our arrival. The grounds are delightful as are the staff, they couldnt do enough for us, We were there for 2 nights during our travels around India and would definately go back

We had stayed in this property for two nights, the rooms are very good, but the service providers were the worst. We will never ever recommend any one to use this homestead. We went by car from Udaipur, we had booked earlier & paid the whole amount in advance. We stayed in Jogmaya homestay in Udaipur, its the best I would recommend blindly, its fantastic, excellent service. And when we reached Jaipur, this people were very arrogant & didn't know how to treat a customer.
