Arrived at 6am..and the reception was ready for us..! Since we were early, there was no room but they let us waited at the garden cafe and later provided us with free chai. Later around 8am, we were given a room at 8am....Never arrived that early as we were charged Rs 130..at the prepaid autorickshaw..but what the heck.. we just need a place to sit after the train journey.

Might not be easy to find to those who are not familiar with the area.. as our autorickshaw was going around and around and around.....till we get there after asking around and calling the hotel. Should u have this issue, just say Pearl Palace hotel, located opposite of Chitra Katha...
The place is near to train station...perhaps a walk of 15 minutes..by autorickshaw..just a few minutes away.. but it's slightly far from the city center.. we had a rickshaw for about Rs 70. Don't worry. there are many autorickshaws outside the hotels as there are abt 4 hotels along the road. We paid Rs300 for a city place, amber fort and going around the city...which was for abt 5 hrs for us.

We had a room on the ground level. The bathroom and non AC room was clean..! With simple deco and lovely ceiling fresco. My best accommodation in my entire trip in India... However, the window didn't shut properly so it was a bit cold in the eve..but stil manageable...

Internet was Rs25/half an hour if i recall corectly.

The restaurant food was also fair.. Try the wanton soup.. execellent..!! Well... the kitchen might be a bit slow.. but the foodwas of good portion and ok.

Room Tip: Ground level rooms are a bit noisy as the corridor is the only access to the rooms and garden cafe.

My daughter and I were traveling in Jaipur for a few days and had an excellent stay at Chitra Katha. The owner was extremely helpful and cooperative, as were the staff. The room was comfortable, clean, quiet, and well-decorated, and the restaurant had great offerings. There's even a fountain and yard next to the restaurant where you can relax! The hotel was also conveniently located, only a short trip away from major sites. The owner helped immensely with tourist information and helped to arrange a rickshaw (tuk-tuk) for the whole stay. Highly recommend!

Situated on a lovely little road, with nice looking buildings & a few trees! Easy walking distance to local shops, restaurants etc. We tended to use the small on-site breakfast style cafe for breakfast/snacks & went over the road to the hotel opposite for dinner, which was always amazing! (I think the hotel's own roof-top restaurant was under construction...) Reception were very helpful & were able to sort us out rooms with no prior booking. Internet room (one computer) was very handy, I was able to stay up late using the internet & hand back the internet room key the following morning when I woke up. Handy to have a clothes washing service though a bit pricey - they charged per item. The couple who run the place were lovely & friendly, giving us extra loo roll etc when we needed it & waving us off when we left! Would stay here again for sure.

Hi Tor, (Sorry, don't know the real name)

Thank you so much for your review. It is of utmost importance as it improves the quality of our service. This lane is where I grew up and have lovely memories of how we played and fell from these trees. That's why even though everyone suggested that the trees might obstruct the view of our property we decided not to chop them off. They are very much part of our family.

The restaurant opposite our favorite too. In fact its the best in the vicinity, as of today. We hope to change that status in near future :) We will be eager to serve you, and serve you better, on the wonderful roof top restaurant (Starting late this season!) that overlooks the majestic Hathroi Fort.

Extremely pleased to know that you found your stay satisfactory. And btw... the couple who waved you off are my folks who run the show. Thanks and take care.

Warm regards
Anshu Sharma

We went to Chitra Katha after another place we were contemplating was fully booked.
We knew nothing about this property and stumbled across by complete chance as it was just across the road from the place we were considering and we needed one night's stay before flying out of Jaipur the next day.

What a pleasant surprise this has been!

The location is great, the facilities are excellent, staff are kind and helpful and the food at their restaurant is nothing less then exceptional! In fact, we had some of the best Indian food we've had throughout our trip there. Do not miss their food!

The rooms are average in size but very clean. Our room seemed like it was recently renovated but I think the entire place has undergone a facelift recently.

The WiFi connection (which for me is very important) was excellent and free.

Shame we didn't know about this place during our first stay in Jaipur. We will definitely be back and highly recommend it.

We arrived by chance to this hotel because The Pearl Palace Hotel just in front was packed. Hopefully we find out Chitra Khata, a really quiet place, with nice staff, starting with the manager, a kind gentleman that is always ready to help you, and a nice group of Darjeeling Guys that work with him. Good Wi.Fi connection, super clean and spacious rooms: with fan and cooler system (not A/C but we find it better), clean bathroom, with hot water all day long. They give you towels, toilet paper, soap. Food is ok, we only tried fruit juices and salads. We have been traveling for four months in India and we had never get that good service for such price in a double room.

Room Tip: We stayed at room 107, good wi-fi connection.

We originally wanted to stay at the Hotel Pearl Palace, but it was booked solid, and we didn't feel like wandering around after a long day of travel, so we skipped across the street to Hotel Chitra Katha. The building was lovely and the prices were reasonable for what wour budget was (I think we paid around 400rp/night...about 12 bucks...). The hotel is well decorated and spotlessly clean. It has a small garden restaurant, but we didn't get a chance to eat there while in Jaipur (although the room service was pretty good). The front desk guys were young and super friendly...no pressure to see other rooms, or barter prices...THe best part of this place was definately the people. On the second day of our stay, I hurt my back (ended up being a slipped disk), and couldn't leave the room....while my husband was madly trying to get ahold of our insurance company Madhu, who I believe was one of the owners of the hotel, came knocking on our room door and insisted that she let her husband drive us to the local doctor. We forgot all about getting insurance dealt with, and Madhu held my arm and helped me down stairs and into their car. Her husband then proceeded to take me to the doctor, and then to a nearby pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions. Whjen we got back to the hotel, Madhu was waiting outside for us and she loaned me her back brace belt, and helped me put it on (it turned out that she had had a similar problem herslef). To make a long story short, the management at this hotel, and particularly Madhu, were exceptionally kind and helpful to both myself and my husband. THey genuinely seemed to care how we were doing after that and checked in on me while my hubby went out to see Jaipur's fantastic sites (I got to see them by picture later...poo)... I would highly reccommend this hotel to anyone who needs a break from India's hustle and bustle, and who appreciates giving business to good people.

Hi Shanfrom,
First of all let me apologize for replying so late. Your review is of utmost importance as it improves the quality of our service. Please do drop by soon.

On one hand we are so glad that you appreciated the service and care but on the other hand we feel extremely miserable as we know you missed out on exploring Jaipur, with your own eyes and feet. We pray for your back and for its speedy recovery. Please do drop in soon, as we are working on a brand new restaurant, a library and some artistic work is underway for all the rooms. You should visit us once all this is done. Thank you for appreciating our staff – They mean the world to us. And by the way, Madhu is my Mother, and I guess every woman has this innate motherly instinct to help people in pain. And who knows ‘slip disc’ better than her. I am so glad that she is out of it now. Wishing you the same!

We will be eager to serve you, and serve you better, on the wonderful roof top restaurant (Starting this season!) that overlooks the majestic Hathroi Fort.

Take care
