We loved our 2 night stay at this rather special little hotel. The location is perfect for exploring the old town. It's very central but very quiet and calm: as soon as you walk through the gates into the central courtyard and lush garden the noise and dust of the city just seem to melt away. Our room was very clean, large, comfy and stylishly decorated. We really appreciated the fresh coffee being delivered to our room every morning. Breakfast was very good too. The porridge made from organic wheat grown on Mr Singh's farm excellent. Service was good, charming and very attentive. Highly recommended.

We only spent two nights here, unfortunately, the service, atmosphere, friendliness and rooms are without equal an we could easily have moved in for a week or so! We ate here on our first night in the courtyard with musical entertainment expertly explained by the host and really enjoyed the lovely atmosphere cocooned from the noise and bustle of the city just around the corner. A fantastic place to stay which combines the hustle and bustle of the city with a warm relaxing place to stay at the end of the day. Can't recommend it highly enough, thanks for a great stay. Within walking distance of the Hawa Mahal and the shops and bazarre.

Excellent situation. Central but very calm - in contrast to Jaipur! Mr Singh and all his staff were most helpful, solicitous and informative. Children enjoyed kite-flying from the roof.
Particularly enjoyed tea brought to our bedroom and delicious breakfasts. Very comfortable room.

We stayed for two nights in February and found Dera Mandawa to be an attractive and calm oasis in the bustle of Jaipur. The welcome was amazing and the staff helpful and Mr Singh gracious and informative. We particularly appreciated the efforts made to introduce us to local cuisine. The resident musician playing in the garden in the evenings made this a very special place to stay. Strongly recommended.

Having just returned from a two week trip around Northern India and taking my mother out of Australia for the first time we stayed two seperate nights at the Dera Mandawa when in Jaipur. I can not rate it highly enough and it will be the only place I wish to stay at next time i am in Jaipur. Mr and Mrs Singh and their family and staff are fantastic, you could not ask for better hospitality. The rooms and grounds are beautiful also. It is an oasis you are not expecting to find your self in as you are driving down the busy sansar chandra road. Being the only guests on the first night Mr Singh joined us for dinner and the company was excellent what a very interesting and pleasurable conversation the three of us had, the same can be said when Mrs Singh joined us for breakfast the next morning. returning two nights later even with more guests staying nothing had changed they were still a pleasure and made my mother feel at ease. The other great plus is it is the only place we stayed that had free Wi-Fi that was also fast and efficient. So thank you again Mr and Mrs Singh cant wait to come back and see you again.

What a great experience, including the most hospitable greeting from when we arrived until we left, outstanding accommodation, very clean and emperor size beds. The food was very authentic and the staff were very attentive to all of our needs. We were fortunate to stay during Holi and experienced the colorful festivities offered by the management and staff during the day. Thank you for making our stay, even more special.

Being greeted by the patron of where you are staying is always a pleasant beginning. Couple that with great oversized roomswith all new fixtures and amenities and younhave a true gem.

The staff was extremely attentive. I particularly liked how they brought you tea as a wake up call aheadof your breakfast. I had dinner there 1 night and the food was very good.

I would hands down recommend Dera Mandawa whil you are in Jaipur.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
A lesser-known fact about Rajasthani monuments is that rarely were forts, palaces and havelis (large residences) constructed at one go. Each generation added new wings, rooms and arches in an architectural style prevalent during its time. DeraMandawa has also seen such an evolution, as the Mandawa family constantly kept extending the residence over the years. Thakur Durga Singh, the current custodian of DeraMandawa is a keen observer of history, culture, religion, current affairs, and is a bank of knowledge so vast that he has a point of view on anything under the sun. He is what one could call a modern traditionalist, actively seeking the use of modern technology and methods to support the principles of traditional living. The inquisitive can have endless conversations with him on a number of his projects like rain -water harvesting, biogas plant, solar heating and, even, healthy cooking. He would be more than delighted to share his experiences with you. ... more   less
