“True home away from home”
Reviewed January 17, 2012

We have chosen this hotel based on tripadvisor.com rating and their references. Everything has indeed exceeded our expectations. This is a private-owned family run hotel, and the owner is a very caring person, paying attention to all details and travelers' needs. We have felt ourselves at home, safe and sound. The owner has arranged for the car with a driver to take us to all sightseeing and also the railstation transfer. The hotel is located close to the Rajasthan Police Academy - a remote area which is very clean (compared to everywhere) and seems to be very safe. Should we come back to Jaipur, Hotel Baba Haveli will be the only place we stay - and definitely recommended to everyone going to Jaipur.

Approach Baba Haveli with a playful attitude. Vijay is a trip and a sweet and helpful proprietor. Leave your bad attitude at the door.

The rooms are kitschy in the cleanest, cheeriest, and functional sense. View from the rooftop is pleasant for sunset. Hot water (ask how to turn it on when you check in). Beds are high quality. The location is in a relatively quiet and nice neighborhood. Other hotels may be more convenient, but Baba Haveli is close enough to the tourist sites by taxi or auto rickshaw and will save you a little money.

They will serve you dinner in the common area. Prices and quality is similar to other tourist restaurants. After an exhausting day of fort viewing in Jaipur, it is worth considering.

Room Tip: More expensive rooms are not worth the bump in price.

Look at earlier review with the title : “below average on most respects”. My family and I share their views equally.

Baba Haveli is located in a residential area and it looks eerie at night. First of all, nobody knew of it's location. We asked multiple people in the area before we stumbled upon it. When we got there, we had to wait more than 10 minutes before the front door was opened. Inside, we were welcomed by Mr. V and two young men who were sleeping on the floor just inside the entrance. Mr. V quickly tried getting us to check in and were in the process of doing so my mom asked if they had hot water. His answer was "Maybe there is hot water". This made us furious since first of all, we did not pay for a guesthouse and second, we were cheated of our money. We asked Mr. V of this hotel's rating and he said that it does not have any stars as its a family run business - more like a guesthouse or family run homestay. We went on to see the bedrooms just to feed our curiosity.

There is a long hallway after which you take a narrow spiral staircase up to the bedrooms. We saw 3 bedrooms - which were designated to us. The first room had a queen sized bed with its own bathroom. The second and third were the same with two twin beds each. The pictures provided by them on the website are somewhat deceiving. Right in front of the rooms is the sitting area with two tables (I am guessing that's where breakfast is served).

We could not stay any longer so we left without spending the night there and checked into another hotel in an area that looked more fitting to our needs. My family of 5 were booked into Baba Haveli hotel by our NOT SO GREAT TRAVEL AGENCY - HOLIDAY INDIA TRAVELS. Please DO NOT CHOOSE this travel agency - they overcharge, make promises and provide subpar services. This would be one of the the subpar services that we paid a lot of money for. We had paid for 3.5-4 star hotels during our stay in India. So, when we got here, we felt cheated of our money.

Arriving at Baba Haveli was a very pleasant experience. The Manager Vijay is a great character warm and attentionate, giving you advise to make sure that you make the most of your stay in Jaipur. Also he recomended us a place to get ayurvedic massage with a special price on his behalf, this was really fantastic. The hotel is located next to the Police Academy in a quiete area which is appreciable. Also taking breakfast on his beautiful top roof terrace was a must. Also at very affordable prices. Just one thing regarding the rickshaws, the best way is to make sure that they switch their keymetter on, so you don't endup paying double or triple price.

I stayed at the Hotel Baba Havelli for 2 nights last month (Nov 2011) and can thoroughly recommend it as the rooms are very characterful as well as clean and spacious. Breakfast on the rooftop was an added bonus and the hotel is in a quiet location 10 minutes from the centre of town. The owner is a real gent and does all he can to make you feel welcome. Recommended.

We found this place very warm and welcoming. Ideal for travellers who are looking for Budget hotels in Jaipur. This is located in a convenient location from where you can get buses and rickshaw to reach Old city (Pink city - it is actually red).
A suggestion to those planning to roam around the old city, please have breakfast here and go in the morning as you will not find many places to eat at the old city. You will defenitely find a lot of sweet shops but not the regular restaurants.
Owner of Baba haveli is an extremely welcoming person, on the day we arrived he might have said "Welcome to Baba Haveli" atleast 10 times. He also advised us against taking a cab and helped us with bus routes etc,(normally these people have tie ups with cabs and advice us to take that).

Food is very good since it is cooked for you, this obviously is a cause for delay but the wait is worth it.
