Description: Chitra Cafetaria is located within Hotel Arya Niwas, in central Jaipur. It is a well known restaurant at Jaipur serving HOME LIKE freshly prepared food. Some things that make Chitra Cafe Unique are: 1.) Open kitchen that all guests are welcome to visit. 2.) Food is prepared in small batches, ensuring freshness 3.) There is no set menu, vegetables and preparations change every day, which means you do not eat out of a fridge at Chitra Cafe! 4.) There is an actual display of all the preparations every day! You can see the dishes offerred for the day, how they look, portion size and price before you order. 5.) Portions are good for one person, meaning less wastage and more choice on the table! 6.) To the extent possible be use local grown vegetables. 7.) We serve Vegetarain food, eggs are also served but the utensils used to cook eggs are separate. 8.) We serve SEASONAL FOOOD - you can eat Bitter gourd, Lauki, Parval, kamal kakri, pumpkin, beans and other staple Indian vegetables that have unfortunately disappeared from hotel and restaurant menus, replaced by boring menus dominated by koftas, paneer, cauliflower, potatoes and spinach ! 9.) We celebrate DIVERSITY IN FOOD - we serve seasonal stuff! 10.) We serve fresh salads, fresh juices, fruits. 11.) We make our own pasta. 12.) Our kitchens are managed by Owner family ladies. We aim to serve HOME LIKE food. 13.) We have our own herb garden.

We sought this place out based on a lot of good TA reviews from Indian customers about the quality and value of the food here, and we weren't disappointed. The dining room is simple but cozy, and the bathrooms are clean. You order a la carte at the register, where sample dishes are laid out so you can see them before you eat. Beware to those of you with eyes bigger than your stomachs, though! It's so affordably priced that it's easy to get more than you can eat! We particularly enjoyed the lassis and parathas. Then we stopped off at the hotel giftshop next door and saw how badly we'd been ripped off at the "outlet" craft guild that charged us 10x more, but that's another story... Check out Chitra. It's worth going out of your way.

Greetings from all of us here at Arya Niwas and Chitra Cafe Jaipur.

Thank you for taking out the time to write a review and also for the kind words. All of us are glad you liked our services and hope you had a good time at our beautiful city of Jaipur.

I am also glad that you liked our shop. It is perhaps one of the few places that has a fixed displayed price for each item. Our books collection, especially for books on handicrafts and textiles is also quite good. You can check it up maybe on the next trip to Jaipur!

The area around the hotel is, well, not really inviting. We just went to the restaurant because of good reviews, we actually stayed somewhere else... So it took us some time to get there.

But it was totally worth it. Even though it is a half self service restaurant (place your order at the counter, pay for it, get a number and the food is served at your table), I totally recommend it.
I chose a variety of Indian food: delicious and tasty, well spiced and all this for a really good price.

I am sorry you could not stay with us at Arya Niwas, though we cannot really do a lot about the crowded areas nearby, I can promise a tranquil stay at the hotel, maybe for the next visit!

This restaurant is hidden away in a hotel on a very narrow road. Our driver was able to maneuver his way in and it was totally worth it!

The food here was amazing. We each had pasta dishes and they were hot, fresh and delicious. We also shared an order of samosas, which were great as well. They were selling packaged cookies which we purchased and enjoyed throughout the rest of our journey...try the coconut ones!

The staff here was very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this place! Also, check out the shop next door...they have everything you could possibly want at great prices and the owner was excellent to do business with!

The food here is so nice, I had a tendency to order too much because I wanted to try it all! Stayed at Arya Niwas for 10 nights, and had breakfast and dinner at Chitra Cafe nearly every day, as well as quite a few lunches. They offer European dishes as well, but take my advice and work your way through the Indian ones. My favourite was the Chole Bhature, as was the freshly squeezed sweet lime juice!
Service was exceptional, although we did visit during Diwali and therefor there were a couple of mornings when some of the staff looked a little tired after all the festivities! :-)

This is by a mile a beautifully home-feel restaurant. The food is nice, well-made, tasty and most importantly reasonably priced. We stayed at Arya Niwas too - that helped the frequenting this restaurant (on-site at AN). The children loved it and the adults relished it. Frankly, I would go to them again - definitely.

All of us here are glad you liked our food. We try to make fresh food that is tasty as well as healthy.

Recently, we have started growing and using a few herbs like sweet basil in our pasta. Maybe you find it better tasting on your next visit to the restaurant!
