This was our first visit to Jaipur and so staying at the Ratan Haveli gave us a feeling of India's historical past.We received a warm welcome at reception and were escorted to our spacious studio room which was furnished in a traditional style and contained an enormous double bed which is very nice for someone who likes to stretch out.
The hotel is situated in a bustling area and can be overwhelming for someone who doesn't like busy traffic but can be interesting for those who like to weave through tuktuks, cycle rickshaws, cars buses, donkeys camels cows and lots of people. However, there is an excellent taxi service at the hotel for both local trips or excursions. We took a trip to the Taj Mahal calling at historical sights both ways and it cost about £50 for the full day.
The restaurant was very pleasant and offered some nice local dishes.
and the manager who lived locally advised us on some local places of interest to visit.
From the hotel roof there was an excellent view of the surrounding hills and ancient walls or you could occasionally watch families of monkeys climbing over the rooftops.
The reception staff were very polite and helpful and always had a ready smile.
The room was cleaned every day and sheets and towels were changed on a regular basis.
All in all we really enjoyed our stay and felt we really had been in India.

This hotel is definitely not up to the standard expected from Royal. We were promised a studio but had a small hotel room. Given that it is an old Haveli there isn't much that can be done about verandahs etc. We were told they are going to make changes and put in a pool and a bar area. Unfortunately I ended up in hospital and the staff were absolutely amazing and couldn't have done enough for us. We had room 207 which looked over the courtyard - so had plenty of light and fresh air.The restaurant staff were helpful but lacked English and the ability to serve English breakfasts although it is on the menu.

After having some 'interesting' discussions with management, some minor changes were made. This hotel should not be marketed to anyone other than Indians! It is definitely not up to the standard that we pay for as members of the Royal Group.

We were to be charged 300 rupee for the WiFi but complained about it so much that they didn't charge us in the end. The girls on reception were lovely but watch out for the Sunter - the Travel Desk Manager - just make sure when he says 'all included' that it is! We were caught out once but after complaining didn't have to pay the extra. We ended up quite good friends once he knew where we stood and when I was in hospital all the drivers kept on bringing food and they didn't charge us and the reception staff brought me flowers. The Sales Director of Royal and the Hotel Manager also came to the hospital.

Room Tip: We had room 207 which looked over the courtyard - so had plenty of light and fresh air - although a...

last year i became member of RGBC and it was my first trip to any of their resorts. but the room given to me (Room no 203) left me feel sad. its hardly a 12x8ft room with no ventilation. no buthtub in the bathroom. i could have found this type of room in jaipur for below Rs 1000/ . why should i be a member and pay so much for this facility? only good thing was the behaviour of all the staffs and promptness in service. the food in the restaurent is good. but a lot of improvement is desired to classify it as a platinum resort! planning for goa in October with my guests. keeping fingers crossed.

A beautiful heritage haveli, well-preserved and provided with modern amenties to make your stay very enjoyable and pleasant. The staff is extremely cordial and helpful, restaurant serving great food and reasonably priced, and rooms well-decorated and well maintained. The down part is the shady location of the hotel, but inside it is extremely comfortable. Since we went their to avail a promotional offer for 4 nights stay, we were very well 'looked after' by everyone, but were also nagged anoyingly by their sales and marketing staff to buy their membership. They in fact reduced their membership fee from about 600K (6 lacs) to 120K (1.2 lacs). But we still did not go for it as we've had the most frustrating and disappointing experience while booking these holidays. Their call centre staff is extremely horrendous and rude. But Ratan Haveli, itself has execellent and courteous staff giving great service and overall was a pleasant experience.

Room Tip: If you are a family of four, ask for room 107. It has a huge bed and advantage of using the verandah...

While Staff and Front desk are very quick, efficient, cordial; the infrastructure and rooms are not good. I specially appreciate the girls working in the front desk to arranging a cake and flowers for my wife's birth day while it was raining. Also the food in the restaurant had variety and good and reasonably priced. We stayed in room 106 and 107. As far as the infrastructure goes, we had black ants in the room 106. Phone did not work for two days. Internet, which they said is available, did not work for all 7 days we were there and several other small issues. The hotel is situated in a regular Jaipur residential street. Due to heavy rains the lower level roons were flooded. Come out of the hotel and street corner is stinking dirty. Over all, I would not stay at there next time. It does not meet the Royal Quality that they tout about.

Room Tip: In rainy season choose upper level rooms. Due to heavy rains lower level rooms were flooded while we...

Dear Nambula,

Thank you for your comments relating to Ratan Haveli in Jaipur. We are please to read that you enjoyed our hospitality and we will ensure our colleagues in Jaipur are aware of this. Regarding the unusual inclement weather and consequent flooding I can assure you this is highly irregular after the highest rainfall recorded in Jaipur since 1981. It is undeniable that there are some infrastructure issues in India and we are sorry these were exasperated by this incredibly high and unusual rainfall in Jaipur at the time of your stay.
The Haveli is up to 300 years old in parts and is situated within the famous Pink City which eptomises old and modern India in all its multi-cultural glory. We really do hope you will come and visit us again.
