The only good thing about this stay was our conversation with the charming and educated head of the house, which is now run by his son and wife. Our room was dirty, particularly the shower cubicle where the glass was almost opaque with soap residue and there was a tidemark around the shower outlet. Next day we asked for this to be cleaned but nothing was done, and they obviously hadn't even been into the room as the bed wasn't made. The unshaven owner was, however, very quick to ask for payment on the morning of our departure - we weren't properly up and dressed even - but, having been paid, nobody was there to say goodbye when we left half an hour later. Although we understand a homestay is, by its nature, not a hotel, the level of dirt and lack of hospitality was appalling. All in all, a huge disappointment.
