“Best Bargain Heritage Hotel in Jaipur City”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2012

BEST VALUE - Excellent location, you live in a historic Mansion on a one acre estate in the heart of town. Large lawns for children to play in. Delicious home cooked food. A staff that pampers you. Rooms that have all amenities of a four star hotel. No wonder it got the Trip Adviser award for being one of the best Bargain Hotels in India- You wont get a better bargain than this in Jaipur .

We stayed in 2 connected rooms for 3 nights in October as a group of 3 travellers. Admiral Singh, the ex-Navy owner of Devi Niketan took time out each day to help us organise an itinerary while in Jaipur. He told us what was and wasn't worth seeing based on our length of stay, and told us where to shop based on what we were looking to buy. He was the perfect host. The staff were attentive and friendly and never lingered looking for tips.

If you stay here I strongly recommend eating dinner at the hotel. The food was delicious and served in generous volume. The only choice you have to make is vegetarian or non-vegetarian, and you will be served a feast of traditional Indian food. The benefits of this is being able to try lots of different things you may not necessarily choose if you were given a menu. It is very good value for money too!

The location is good, Admiral Singh can organise a driver for you to take you on the short drive to the Pink City or the slightly longer drive to the Amber City for about Rs150 per hour. The rooms are well air conditioned and while they advertise wifi in common areas only, with our rooms being on the ground floor we had the bonus of wifi reaching our room which was nice. The hotel is set back a bit from the road which makes it a nice place to retire to after the relentlessness of the busy city of Jaipur.

If you are look for a 5 star hotel luxury experience, this place is not for you. It is an old building, and the rooms are in rustic condition, but are kept clean. If you are looking for an exciting and interesting experience, this is where you should stay.

One who wants to gel in with the culture and the life of Rajasthan, Devi Niketan is the place to stay. Going to Jaipur one must definitely feel royal rather than just sheer luxury of 5 star hotels, live in this palace. I felt I was visiting my family in Jaipur. Definitely Vikramji and his battalion is at our service at a call and a true representation of RajasthanI hospitality.

Every hall is dedicated to the ancestors of the Choumoo family which is a museum in itself. I just loved my stay there.

It was recommended by my aunt.
Awesome hotel with beautiful rooms and peaceful surroundings
Its full of historical adventure as u also get to know about the war period in the history of India (a hall full of paintings and medals) as its run by admiral, a very warm person.

We were on a family trip. I'll list down the pros and cons.

Pros:
Great location.
Admiral is very particular about things.
In his absence Mr. Vikram Singh was very helpful. A big thank you to you.
The travel options provided is really too good.
On the day of local sightseeing, I asked for arrangement of a guide. They arranged for Manoj, I really believe he is the best. He took us some really good photos. Also he was considerate to understand that we are travelling with kid, who need to be attended to quiet often. Thanks man.
Rooms are quite big. Non-indians should opt for this hotel due to it's unique heritage room styles.
24 hour availability of hot and cold water.

Cons (or may be suggestions):
The staff needs to be more attentive and more so professional.
Lack of any restaurant facilty (may be the only reason which made be rate it as a 3, instead of 4). The snack items provided on the menu not always available.

Info:
Please try Kanha restaurant nearby. Really good.

Room Tip: Room number 3 on the ground floor is spacious but does not have a view to offer.
