This is one of those rare free standing Italian restaurants that does not believe in Indianizing its dishes just to please the jaded palates of most Indians who want their tandoori and paneer and manchrian with every dish. I had heard about this place for a whil but never had a chance until now to try it. Well, I have been missing out of something.

They have a brick oven pizza outdoors and you can sit just there watching your pizza getting cooked. It was very good, thin crust and all. It is very rare to find a pappardelle dish in India, but Don ahd it, and it was quite good, though it could have used with ait more of olice oil. Their wine selection by the glass is very limited and a real drawback. So was the tiramisu. It was a bit too dense and tasted more of custard than spongy tiramisu.

Service was very good, and the pricing is fair. If the location was a bit more convenient, I would eat here more often.

We waited around 4 years to visit Don Giovanni as someone had told us that kids are not allowed there… and we never go anywhere without our 4-year old who LOVES Italian food and can give any Italian cook a lecture on good meat sauce and pastas! We landed there on Thu evening at 8:30pm and we were the only ones there. This has one of the best décor that we have seen in any stand-alone Italian restaurant in Mumbai … huge space, very very well set up with the perfect ambience !! The staff was quite warm and we enjoyed the undivided attention.

Then everything was a tragedy. We ordered their house wine (Italian white) and it was served warm … a sacrilege in a restaurant of DG’s repute. The bread basket was nice and we ordered a Pizza and pasta (alfredo sauce with exotic vegetables extras). It was the most pathetic pizza and pasta we have had in ages … completely tasteless, bland with no authentic flavors or anything. We just love Italian food having tried out almost every restaurant in Bandra / Juhu area and beyond … and have travelled across Italy where we had gorged on their delicacies. Could not figure out which regions cooking was this and how could it be so bad ! We coundn’t have more than 2 slices of pizza and somehow gulped down the pasta. The desert, chocolate mousse was frozen solid !!! What is wrong with these people …

We had heard great reviews about this place and it was such a disappointment. We left at 9:45 pm and there were only 2 tables full… I think the management and Mr. Giovanni if he exists, need to take serious stock of the situation and get new chefs. One should just give this place a miss … there are so many excellent options nearby – Little Italy, Café Mangii etc. Wish they had the no kids policy in real – would have enjoyed our dinner somewhere else. At 3K, it was an expensive mistake. Sad …

I was in India moe than 2 weeks for business and you really need westerner flavours at certain point, Don Giovanni is real italian, no indian spicies nor garam masala nor coriandro in your food, excellent, service is also very good.

loved the food .. the rice pancakes ( appams ) and pomfret made two ways, the mutton made in kerla style was spectacular .. you will need some beers to wash down the spices .. a must visit to try authentic Indian coastal seafood.

the place is a little dingy and cramped but the food makes up for it all. Avoid Desert.

The starters, drinks, pastas, pizzas and risotto....we tried them all and the food is good...the owner takes a lot of personal interest in making sure guests are enjoying the meal...

Although since the reviews we all so great, I was a little disappointed as I thought they were overrated.

The food was good but there are many better Italian places that I would much prefer...
