We went for lunch on Friday afternoon around 1.30. The place was buzzing with the office workers from the business district around the place-- getting ready for the weekend. We had to wait for around 10 minutes to find a placed. It is a airy place with a old world charm-- peeled walls, no air conditioning and fans whirring from the ceiling. The owners have a genial look around them, the older one personally taking orders from some tables and then passing it to the wait staff.
We ordered the famed Berry Chicken pulao and Sali chicken with bread. The pulao seemed to have a different taste thanks to those imported berries from Iran. The bread was a bit stale but the Sali Chicken tasted awesome. We had the Rasberry drink which isn't available elsewhere-- it tastes a bit like strawberry flavored Rex Jelly which we used to have as kids made into a juice :) -- it was very good must say.
Finally polished the visit with the to-die-for-caramel-custard'.
The visit was worth the effort--- last time I had visited was in 1995. The place hasn't changed at all which is heartening.

One of Mumbai's culinary institutions, a visit to Britannia is a must for any foodie visiting Mumbai. This venerable restaurant is 90 years old and will most likely shut in a few years as their 99 year lease is running out and the owner's son is not keen on carrying the family torch much further.

The food is a bit greasy but delicious. Go with a big appetite and take a long walk to burn it off!

See no further as far as Parsi/Irani cuisine is concerned. Britannia not only has a lot of history attached to it, but in spite of all these years, the quality of the food has not changed. One of those rare places in Bombay where every item on the menu is a winner! Feels so very homely and old world to just sit over there and relish a tasty meal. Be prepared to wait for some time, because of its popularity and time constraints.

More than Parsi food, this is a Iranian restaurant. The star of the restaurant is their Berry Pulao. This is the only place in Mumbai where one can eat this wonderful dish. The restaurant has a old world charm to it and one can see many high-heeled people have their lunch along with their international visitors. The other items like Patrani Machchi and Dhansak are equally good. A must try are the sodas that you get here viz; raspberry and ginger. One of the very few places that these are available now. One of the must visits for foodies in Mumbai.
