This is a most beautiful and magnificent shrines in Mumbai. The idol of Lord Ganesh is sculpted from a single black stone. The trunk of the Ganesh idol is tilted towards its right. The idol has 4 hands. On both sides of the idol, 'Riddhi' and ''Siddhi' are mounted. The 'Ganesha' idol is placed in an octagonal shelter. The roof of the shelter is gold plated. Eight different images of Lord Ganesh are carved on the wooden doors of the temple.
Every day about 25,000 devotees visit this temple. Tuesdays are most important days for 'puja' and 'darshan' at this temple. During 'Sankashti Chaturthi' large number of devotees attend the special events here. In fact Siddhivinayak Temple is a hot-spot for tourists who visit Mumbai.
There is always a long queue and you have to pass through security checks. The shopkeepers on 'flower lane' sell fresh flowers, sweets, coconuts to offer Prasdam. One can reach here by train, getting down at Dadar Station or by bus getting down at Siddhi Vinayak stop.
