A newspaper article in a leading daily is all it took me to call Dhiresh n meet him up in a weeks time on his famed Chor Bazaar Walk.. Little did i know about the place i called apan ka Bombay and used to pride upon.. like a pucca Bombayyite..... that i actually had to learn a lot more about this place, how it was names, how it was formed and the whole peripheral transformation while Bombay was being built.... Its like suddenly Dhiresh n Nitika opened my eyes n ears to a whole new world called Bombay and my senses just didnt refuse to be rewarded, bombarded with all that these guys had up their sleeves... It was d best thing to have happened to me in 2013 :)
I am so glad i decided to just go for the walk after reading d news article.
While Dhiresh plays his part perfectly and adds more drama n ethos to unfold a story-telling kinda experience, Nitika kept me engrossed with the myriad tales of food, palates, stories from Ramayan, origin of chaat, Mughlaai Food and what not.... Phew !!!!
Its been 8 months or so since ive known these guys.. and ive already been with them on 3 fun walks... they Rock... and how !! :)
When i shared my experiences and pics on fb ... from my first walk with these Travel Loggers... my friends jus cudnt wait to join me on d next adventure... and they did... on the Mumbai Imperial Nights... and they were fascinated by it totally....... Aaaah d place looks so pretty at night :)
And pretty soon, we had another nightwalk @ South Bombay - Poetry in Stone where we discovered a new facet of Pre-British Bombay right till the Goras left India... and end it all with the juiciest kebabs @ Ayubs
I love the fact that these guys dont just go thru d motions, theres a wealth of knowledge and the total command that they have about their subject material.. totally commendable
And the impromtu quizzes are sure to keep u alert, thruout ur walk :)
So u know u have a bunch of smarties around ;)
And the choice of eateries is just too good..... quaint but places of character, no-nonsense food, where only Taste is valued... aah d joys of being a Foodie , hahahahaha
Take my word for it... Just go for it.. Travel Logs is not just a fun outing for me, its much more, these guys are friends now :)
Cheers to d team on their First Anniversary... Well Deserved and ... Well Done !!!!
