“Clean and decent”

We were positively surprised coming to the Sea green Hotel after a long flight at 5 o´clock in the morning. We woke up the entire staff and wondered if it was possible for us to get access to our room. No problem, we got into our beds and slept till 12 and then made the afternoon sightseeing. The hotel is fairly clean, its simple but has big and open rooms. We were very pleased.

Best located hotel for Mid budget tourist. From your balcony you can spend time by looking at Arabian sea. Hotel room was really big in Mumbai standard- about 400 square feet. Rooms are clean. Waiters attend call within minutes. The hotel is old. No restaurant attached. But a lot of eateries and restaurants are there nearby. We have stayed there from 6-8 January 2012.

Room Tip: Select sea facing room.

Sea Green Hotel is a reasonable price with large, spacious rooms and easy going staff. The rooms are clean enough and the staff are helpful and accommodating to the needs of English speakers. The is A/C available and a small working fridge to store bottled water and other goods.

I was at Sea Green for the second time. Had stayed their earlier in August, 2003. This time I had gone to Mumbai with two assistants to cover the monsoon season. What chance ! Even without asking I got the same room on the 4th floor that I had stayed in 2003. Sea Green indeed enjoys a terrific location, and is a tremendous value for money. They don't provide main meals here (only bed tea and some very basic breakfast). This hardly matters as there are plenty of terrific restaurants with 1-10 km radius. Had a wonderful time indeed ... though it was raining most of the time ... but, then, that was the whole purpose of my current visit - to photograph Mumbai monsoon. Yup ! Lest I forget, I had a lovely one-session guided trip with Deepa Krishnan's MUMBAI MAGIC - http://mumbai-magic.blogspot.com/. Terrific.

Room Tip: Sea-facing rooms please ... though these are not necessarily available even if you book months in ad...

A great, reasonably priced hotel at a great location. Rooms are very big, comfortable and clean with a beautiful view. Best part is that you have a balcony to yourself from where you can sit and enjoy the view and sunset so make sure you ask for a sea facing room.

The staff were all great, giving nice advice when it came to restaurants and takeaways since the hotel has no restaurant of its own. A basic breakfast is available though and it is cheap. Like I said, the location is great so you can walk to lots of shops, restaurants and tourist sites. The price is a steal considering all the other hotels in the area were more than double the price.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend it to someone who’s looking for a comfortable, well located hotel and doesn’t want to pay 5 star prices.

I chose this hotel because of the view that it has to offer...the beautiful Marine Drive and the Arabian Sea right in front of you. And indeed the view was fantastic from the 4th floor balcony. It looks like an old property though. They don't have an in-house restaurant and getting decent food can be a bit of a problem because there are no reasonably priced restaurants in the area. Very basic room-service, not very efficient. One other thing is that some of the waiters expected tips while we were leaving. This I guess is common in cities like Mumbai especially for foreigners. But if you want to stay in Mumbai with best view of the sea and not in a five star, then this hotel would do nicely. Bit on the expensive side but felt safe with my family.

By which I mean that if you want to compare this to a similar size of hotel in another major city then you are going to struggle. India is still an emerging tourist market and, as part of this, the Sea Green is doing OK. However, that means staff sleeping in the corridors and in reception.

Our rooms were spacious and generally clean. The paintwork wasn't great. There were patches of filler on the walls. The air-con was old and noisy. But, at least it was there. The shower wasn't great...but it did the job.

The key thing with the Sea Green is the location: right on Marine Drive. From there we were able to have really nice walks to the Gateway, Colaba Causeway, the Taj, VT, Crawford Market and so on. So, its on Marine Drive but its not going to be Inter Continental prices...or quality.
