The Trident Chain of Hotels in itself is a name to reckon with when it come to five star quality. The Trident Mumbai (Marine Drive) is no different. Very classy and trendy hotel, with a great choice of food and wine restaurants, excellent convention / meeting rooms, good array of shops for silk and jewelery, but for me the icing on the cake is the sea facing view that you get from any of the rooms placed higher than the 20th floor. I also have a soft corner for this hotel as i was put up here on the 32 nd floor during my honeymoon night. In the nights the well illuminated marine drive is a sight to behold and in the early morning the view of the waves crashing onto the stone pods is breathtaking.

Stayed two weekend nights as part of business trip. Given one of the updated rooms, which are smartly furnished and well laid out. I had an ocean view which was terrific. My colleague faced the city, which was also pretty good. Internet is fast, but at a fee. Outdoor pool is lovely, although it would be nice if it stayed open a little later for a late night dip in Mumbai's heat. Concierge and bell staff are well informed and friendly. Room service was delicious and fast. The Dal Mahkni was listed as a specialty of the house, and it was outstanding. Hotel is a block or so from National Centre for Performing Arts, where I was able to catch a free short film program and also a theater performance. Location is good if you have meetings in South Mumbai. It's a bit of a trek to the airport (about an hour), but once you arrive, it is fine. Hotel offers a nice car service for airport pick-up for 3000 rupees. The driver had good English and pointed out sites along the way. That said, there are pre-paid AC taxis available for less than 600 rupees.

Stayed for 2 nights - clean rooms, prompt room service, great location, good gym and pool. Cons - rooms and a bit small, bathroom was a squeeze, everything although in good condition is a bit old, restaurants are a bit on the pricey side but that is to be expected

For weekends in Mumbai, Trident at Nariman Point is really a decent place. And this is charming confusion. It is really a buisness hotel by weekdays and tries to be family weekends. Hence the weekend rates are one of the best in Mumbai for its locations.
Both the speciality restaurents are truely good. Indiana Jones is one of the 5 best Oriental restaurants in India, hands down. Only way it can improve is if they add a Sushi counter. Fringapani is also very good. Its breakfast is really excellent. Our favorite is its Egg Benedict. Clearly a winner. Service at restaurents and Club are excellent.

The location of Trident is unbeatable. Great for morning and evening walks. Best times to see the Queen's neckless. Its access for restaurants, shoppings on both sides, whether Warden Road or Colaba are really great. Movie theaters and few restaurents are also near by.

Only consistent challenge we had on all three times, is the check-in and check-out (car coordination). Given that it is Club floor, we expect this to be in 5 minutes and in the room. Last time it was 35 minutes to open interconnected rooms and while checking out, the bell boys pointed to Club saying car information was not passed on and hence took 15 min at gate.

My agent had booked through Trident for three days stay in Mumbai Confirmation booking highlights under 'booked rate is' Trident club room and suites includes breakfast and 2 way airport transfer.

The Front desk clerk ( Delzad) adamant that the rate they have on the confirmation note did not include the transfers etc. Said that the comment was a promotional marketing note to make people aware and said he would make a concession for one transfer.

Though the hotel is wonderful in all aspects, however having to argue with the front desk on these salient points, mutes ones experience and makes it difficult to want to return.

Its important for management to properly train their front desk staff to be able to handle these type situations and especially countering what is in print and then arguing that the conditions are not what it says.. I am sure these situations happen constantly.

Hotel was very comfortable. Spacious, and quiet. Ideal for business travelers.
Restaurant downstairs has excellent service. Room rates are high, especially by Indian standards, but you get value for your dollar/rupee. Have to pay high rates for internet access, room service, but that's almost expected. Staff will go out of their way to accommodate you as they are accustomed to and cater to the business traffic. Overall a pleasant experience for business/traveler alike.
