“Not a Bad Hotel”
Reviewed August 8, 2012

Trying to stay in a full service hotel Colaba on a budget is a tricky proposition, and the location of this hotel can't be beat. My room wasn't as spacious as some I've had in Mumbai, but it was relatively clean and quiet at the end of the hall. The sheets on my bed had obviously been laundered, but possibly not in the hottest water or with enough soap. The lock on my door broke one morning, preventing me first from exiting my room and then going back into my room between meetings, but by the time I returned after lunch, it had been repaired. Big disappointment with the wifi connection being so complicated, but you can't have it all. Next time, I'm planning on staying at The Gordon next door, or at an artsy B&B just down the causeway. The breakfast was tasty and hot.

My wife and I spent two nights at Suba Palace in Mumbai. The hotel is very close (walk distance) to Gateway of India as well to many attractions at Colaba neighbourhood.
The room is clean with fair space for two people. Although the hotel is in old building, it has been renovated and the interior looks nice. AC works properly to cool you down from the steamy Mumbai.
Breakfast is OK but the staff is always attentive to help you. Definitely it was a nice experience staying there.

Room Tip: For a couple I suggested to request double queen bed.

The room, the staff, the location are ok... nothing exceptional but no complaints.
Location and price (booked thru discount web site + direct discussion with staff) are good
But - and this is a real "but" - if you even want to meet friend at day, they will not be allowed to go to your room... The given answer has been for security reason! This was not a good reason because, of course, no problem to let ID of friends ...
So I will not go back there...

The building is old with recent renovation. Thus, rooms are modern and clean. However, the supply of toiletries are limited. it is not money worth as the rate is Rp6500 for a superior room with twin beds. Both the lift and lobby are old fashioned.

Room Tip: rooms at high floor might be better.

Hands down my home away from home.i just returned from India and stayed at the Suba palace.
After a bad experience at a pre booked hotel via a booking agent I decided to return to the Suba palace. The Suba is not for the budget conscious traveller but they definitely worth the money. The rooms are immaculately clean, management is professional and have a clear view of the requirements of quality.Unfortunately the level of English for the support staff is not to good but they make up for it in being willing to help where they can.I highly recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: I try to always listen for outside noise.Especially hooters outside. It helps to determine the qualit...

Have been staying here regularly.

Positives:
1 - rooms are upgraded and feel new.
2 - Locks are now digital which is better than carrying around a key
3 - location is superb just near the Gateway of India in Colaba.
4 - Free breakfast is appreciated and service at the restaurant is very good.

Negatives:
None that I can think of.

This is a great small hotel especially if you use it, like me, just to sleep and shower while spending the day out at work.

Room Tip: Higher floor room is better

I thoroughly enjoy staying at this Hotel (stayed twice). Clean and comfy rooms, Spicy + delightful food from Room service menu.
Location is great as alot of sight seeing can be done on foot. Hotel is opposite Regal cinema, near Taj Hotel and within walking distance of Gateway to India, Chor Bazaar.
Short taxi ride will take you to the shopping malls. Also short distance to Haji Ali Mazaar.

Hotel has a doctor on call which came in handy when my cousin fell ill while we were out. We callled through and the hotel arranged for the doc to meet us once we reached the hotel.

We also had to cut short our trip and they helped us arrange a taxi in the early hours of the morning instead of hotel transfer as that can be quite pricey.
