“Terrible”
Reviewed January 16, 2014

This place was a disgrace. Dirty, stained sheets, Creepy staff that constantly stare and even have the cheek to ask for a tip for..............changing the sheets upon our arrival. Sheets that were stained. What should be done before anyone arrives in the room is clean the roomand change the sheets. The price was terrible aswell. Only stayed one night and was recommended by The Travellers Inn which is on the next street. We arrived there initially but only had 3 out of the 4 days available so they mentioned this place calling it a "sister hotel". The Travellers Inn is cheaper and a far better place to stay. Why they associate themselves with this place i will ever understand as gives a bad impression. Loads of better places and cheaper ones. Avoid this dump.

Hotel windsor is very well located close to Mumbai CST, in a quite street. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The dorm is very big. The bed is ok and it's relatively clean. The ensuite bathroom is not great and there is not hot water. Yet hot water is available at the nearby washroom. You can fill a bucket of hot water there and wash in your room. The breakfast is included and isn't bad. There is an internet room but it's not working great.
Overall, this is very good for the price. Mumbai is more expensive than the rest of India.

A big old building with lots and lots of rooms. My dorm was in decent condition, I met some nice guys also staying there, it had a balcony for smoking and the concierge brought us beer up to the room one night. There was also a TV with plenty of satellite channels (we got football from England one night). The Wifi is poor, the beds are average, the shower has cold water and the bathrooms are separate but overall the location 5 minutes from the train station and the price make this a good deal in an expensive city.

Cant really call it a hotel, because it looks and feels like an old hospital or boarding house. Most of the tenants were longer term migrant Indians themselves, which says to me that its going to have the right kind of character for a down to earth place.
Its very basic with little or no frills.
The place was kept extremely clean, the smell of wintergreen and other cleaning solutions will stay with me forever!
Its in a good location in 15 minutes walking distance to Fort shopping areas, and very close to the Victoria terminus central railway station. Its on a secluded side street and is very quiet at night, and not extremely noisy during the day.
staff were warm and hearty diligent and affable.
Breakfast is ultra basic, indian style or western, a slice of toast with butter or jam and a cup of tea or coffee.
I stayed in a double room two low hard very comfortable beds with light bulbs beside the beds a dim overhead or a fluorescent option. The room had its own shower, which was clean spacious but dark.
There is only a single plug socket.
The balcony which looked over a tree lined street where there were other small businesses, residential mansions, government buildings and storage facilities and a tiny garage for fixing tiny cars. The Balony itself, is small secluded, and offers really good privacy, but there is no facility to dry you own clothes if you decide to do your own washing, and there was quite a bit of bird-shift around too because the trees that loom large there, are home to magpies that feast of their berries.

Room Tip: Bring a clothes line and a multi socket plug.

I hate writing bad reviews, but this place was really terrible. We stayed here one night as the hotel we wanted to stay in was booked up for our first night. This place was cheap for Mumbai, but there is much better out there for the same money (1500 rupees for a double, non AC, no toilet).
I need to be fair and point out the positives... The room was large and had a balcony with a lovely coconut tree outside. There was a ceiling fan that worked and a shower in the room (but no hot water)
However. The large room was filthy! Not just a bit dusty, but actual bird poo all over the floor!! The room was full of damp and the walls covered in mould. The smell was pretty terrible. The plaster had obviously been crumbling for some time and there was a layer of this on the chest of drawers (that we didn't dare open). The bed sheets seemed to have been washed but we're stained beyond salvage. We covered them in t shirts before we slept.
The member of staff who showed us to our room turned on our ceiling fan and then stood in the room clearly wanting a tip! I was pretty annoyed by this as he hadn't done anything tip worthy, but I gave him the small handful of coins in my purse to to get him to leave. But he didn't. He laughed and complained I hadn't given him enough.
Later that day when we went to the 'common room' to use the wifi (which is only on for a couple of hours in the afternoon and evening) we saw members of staff sleeping on the floor and on chairs lining the halls. This made us feel very uncomfortable, but when the staff were awake they would stare at us- creepily and intently.
I understand that you get what you pay for, but seriously, no. Just no. The Travellers Inn is on the next Street and cost less for a FAR superior room at less cost.

I stayed here alone in a five bed dorm for three nights in December 2013. My room was clean, I was only put with other travellers (which as a single girl, was a plus), and everything worked fine. Bathrooms were okay, service was quite good (the guy at reception remembered my name and always said hello), and the breakfast was good. It's also in a great location.

Downsides: small rooms, lots of stairs, the atmosphere is a bit like a prison! But if you are travelling on a budget, then I'd say that this is perfectly good.

Room Tip: Dorm beds are fine.

Mumbai is expensive and you don't expect to find a wonderful hotel for this price, but it wasn't a very pleasant stay. The room was dirty, even after additional cleaning. The staff was very rude and unmotivated to help you out, which in a city like Mumbai is quite essential. Breakfast is very minimal and again, service horrible. We only stayed for 3 nights and we managed, but it didn't contribute to the overall pleasure of traveling.
