“Best deal in Mumbai”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2009

Terrific location in South Mumbai, half a block from Marine Drive and within easy walking distance of most sights visitors want to see in this part of the city. The staff are extremely helpful--we changed our plans and had to rearrange dates while we were there, and they took care of everything--including making calls for us to help us rearrange other stops on our itinerary.

If you care about exterior beauty, this may not be the place for you (the quite ordinary five-story building is undergoing renovation), but the rooms are clean, large, spotless, and air-conditioned; same-day laundry service is reasonably priced; and the breakfast is the best deal we had anywhere in India. Restaurants nearby are good; the staff will also order takeout food for you from these places and deliver it to your room at no extra charge.

Both the renovated superior rooms and the newest executive rooms, which are slightly more expensive, have attached bathrooms, AC, and terraces. Superior is fine for my taste, but the executive rooms are quite luxurious. In this pricey city, both are very good value for the money.

I have stayed at this hotel twice--in 2007 and 2009--and will make it my home in Mumbai on future visits.

The location is great! It’s right in the center 2 min walking to the marine drive.
The room was clean and the staff was very nice.
But the tiles in the room might give you the feeling that you are sleeping in the kitchen, anyway, if you wanna be in the center and if you don’t mind to wake up early that could be a good choice. Since the building is under construction and during the morning you have a lot of noise, if you are planning to go for parties and rest in the morning after, you should consider some other place.

I booked this hotel based on the reasonable reviews on Tripadvisor - but when I got there I wonderered if I was at the right place! An unprepossessing start - the whole of the ground floor was covered in a tarpaulin and held up with bamboo scaffolding. The lift to reception on the 5th floor was small and rickety. I was shown to the room (room 520). 2 tiny single beds with (clean) white base sheets, but no top sheet, just the bedcover, luckily I had my silk sleeping bag with me. The room itself felt like a puiblic lavatory - decorated completely in white shiny tiles , some of which where badly cracked, which given the ground floor apeared to be held up with scaffolding, was a bit of a worry! The bathroom was just awful, dusty and not looking too clean. The only good points were location, just off Marine Drive and wifi availability (but this is chargeable). But at least I was able to use the wifi to book somewhere else - I had originally booked for 3 nights, but left after one - it was the most misrable hotel room I have ever stayed in.
Perhaps I was unlucky and after the refurbishment is complete (or if I had been given a refurbished room) it may be better. It was a lower standard than some of the hostels I have stayed in and a lot more expensive at almost £50UK. I would not stay there again.

We arrived at this hotel after a long and tiring journey, The hotel had arranged for a taxi to pick us up from the airport and this was a great service. An english speaking driver in a lovely air-conditioned car. Arriving at the hotel we found there was some major renovation work going on and wasn't really sure what to expect, however once inside the hotel has a certain charm to it and all the staff are extremely friendly. The renovation work did not bother us at all, even though there was a little noise during the day, they didn't seem to start work too early and didn't wake us at the crack of dawn! We had a newly renovated room and it was fantastic, everything we could have asked for and more. Extremely clean and tidy and the all important air-conditioning! We left our bags at the hotel as we weren't leaving until late and they even sorted us with a room to take a shower before we left. All in all we would definately stay at this hotel again and can't wait to come back and see it once the work has finished.

Considering the prices of all the hotels in Mumbai this was a good choice. We had a funny little room with no view but it was clean, quiet & not hot so ideal just to crash for several nights & see the sights. Great loction with several super restaurants only moments away. The staff were all excellent, so kind & very helpful. They even kept our luggage for free for several days whilst we travelled elsewhere! A really yummy, cheap breakfast too.

We booked directly after reading the promising reviews on Trip Advsior. Our stay was for 3 nights in a deluxe room. The hotel did provide pick up from the airport but our driver couldn't be found initially even though our flight was late in. So lots of standing around waiting. Upon arrival you would be forgiven that you had arrived at a dodgy apartment block that has suffered war damage (it is currently undergoing substantial renovations which is not mentioned on their website). Reception is on the 5th floor with an assortment of rooms on floors in between. So it can be a bit inconvenient when needing to leave your key at reception etc. The floors are serviced by an old fashioned lift which seemed to be in service all the time we were there. Our deluxe room fell short of the pictures and description on their website. Whilst the room was big with 2 double beds, it was not newly renovated and the bathroom decor was at least 5-10 years old. The "balcony" was a joke as it was covered in dirt and scaffolding from the building work going on. The air con unit was not very cold although there were 2 additional ceiling fans. We did double check with reception that we had a deluxe room and they said we had. When we returned to the room on one day, my friend found the cleaners in our room watching the tv and reading our magazines. We complained to reception who then wanted us to point out the offenders with them present! Very unprofessional! Building work started at 10am and went on till the early evening so no chance of an afternoon nap. On the up side the hotel seems very central for sightseeing but beware of all the taxi touts that hassle you as soon as you step out of the hotel. Speak to the doorman and he will call a taxi and negotiate a better rate. We ate at Chopsticks Chinese next door which was very good. Generally disappointed with overall standard of rooms as they are not cheap by Indian standards and def not deluxe by western standards!

booked the hotel late on orbitz as most hotels in mumbai were booked. confirmed the day before, airport pickup was there as scheduled, but was an expensive 1000rs. when i arrived, it appeared the whole place was under construction, with staff chipping a huge hole into the brick wall next to the elevator/stairwell on the ground floor. staff was friendly and attentive however, shuttled me off quickly through that cage elevator to the 5th floor to check in. put me in a room on the 2nd floor, it was reportedly renovated but it had a bathroom in a separate room down the hall which was a bit irritating. room itself was comfortable, had a safe. a bit of hammering during the day, but not too much room noise at night. a/c was nice and cold. wifi was available, but expensive. hotel in a good location in churchgate, plenty of restaurants and cafes around, with marine drive in one direction and fort/colaba in the other direction. breakfast was excellent, delivered to the room and only 60rs. they were able to arrange a taxi back to the airport for 300rs (after i declined their offer of their car for 1000rs). overall, good service and friendly staff, with a fair room, but the whole place seems in a state of construction flux, and mumbai as a whole is overpriced as well.
