The way I see it, this church is a bit of colonial history in Mumbai. The plaques, tablets and memorials to various British people talk about war, of service to their country far from home, of family lives a long way away from home. It is like stepping back in time and into another world as it reminds one very vividly that there were British here, living, ruling and running the affairs of a city. Step outside, to witness the crowded, busy, commercial very Indian street just outside and it feels like stepping from one world into another.
As churches go, it is pretty enough, but seems rather average when compared to all the grand cathedrals of Europe. Even in Mumbai, I personally feel that the Afghan Church is prettier, has greater atmosphere and is the better choice if one had time for just one church visit in Mumbai.
