This is a review for an ancient styled beach villa named Salt Rim on Korlai beach, Alibag. The villa is perched right on the beach n is more or less like our very own secluded beach.Only hitch is the pocket road that leads to the villa which is flooded during high tide but once it's low tide it can be embarked upon. You get a welcome change from the bustling citylife, a total disconnect from the noise, traffic n all other routine stress. The villa has two ac double bedrooms, one with an extra bunk bed.we were 5 adults n could easily manage. There's a caretaker who stays in a separate outhouse who takes care of our food, all 3 meals n tea. Yummy fare esp seafood. If you are looking for some quiet quality time to spent with your loved ones then don't think twice head towards Salt Rim..It's one of the best getaways I've had.. unforgettable experience.

The journey to Alibag is awesome if you are travelling on the catamaran/jetty service from Gateway. Its better to take the non-AC ferry service as you can get a better view of the sea and the wind blowing into the face gives a great feeling. The trip through road will take close to 3 hrs while one can reach Alibag in 1 hr through the ferry service. The alibag beach is decent and one can make a visit to the Kolaba fort nearby while there is low-tide. Apart from alibag beach there are otehr beaches like Nagaon beach, Aksi beach and Kihim beach nearby which are also fine. Its a good weekend trip from Mumbai.

Alibag is a place of good beaches. I stayed here in Mauli village - a farm house A/C accommodation. Overall experience is very good. Nearby attractions are Murud-Jinjira Fort.
Take care of High tide & low tide timings. Nagaon Beach is also good which is near Alibag.

Since Mumbai doesn't have any good beach for swimming and water sports, the locals head out to Alibaug to enjoy the sea. It is a good drive along the coastline. There are also ferries upto Alibaug from the boat jetty near the Gateway of India.
