“Nothing spl and beautiful in alibag”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

Nothing grt about alibag town / beach for day trip except the ferry rides if going through apolo but even that can be tiring. If staying overnight in resort or hotel for relaxation than fine but for that we have better options around mumbai... sanman restaurant has good reasonable sea food and it salvaged my trip

“Overpriced dirty water”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

The waters here are hardly better in quality than Mumbai since Alibaug is so close to the big city. The only 'good' point is that there's less garbage floating in the water in Alibaug than you will find in Mumbai. But the stink and the dirty brown water is ever present.

Save yourself a filthy bath and probably a doctors visit and avoid taking a dip. If you are so desperate for one, go to Goa or better yet Andaman & Nicobar islands or Lakshwadeep where they have beautiful beaches and clean blue waters.

As if that was not enough, the hotels here charge exorbitant rates for filthy rooms. The only consolation is that the beaches are not as crowded as in Mumbai so is a good place to hang out and play some sports.

“Awful beach - it is a public toilet”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

It is the closest beach from Mumbai. It is 45 minutes by boat and 30 minutes by bus and then you reach the place. The town is like all the others in India: dirty, crowded, unorganized, no sidewalks, worn out buses but less cows than usual, less cow dos then usual. The town has everything one needs. The problem is the beach. Indians do not know the word garbage can or when they know the word they do not know how to use it so the beach is a huge dustbin. But worst of all, there is a huge slum right in front of the beach and they decided the 2 kms of the beach is their toilet. They even have it separated and two parts: for males and for females.
We are not suposed to go there (they won´t let you but even if you were allowed it is better no to go). The beach is a latrine and also there are snakes. Spare yourself of the things I had to see: if you are not an indian do not go.
