Owner description: India's most beautiful railway station is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture with stained-glass windows, towering spires, domed arches and buttresses and pillars with animal images carved into them.

This station building is huge and now a world heritage site. The architecture is Gothic and awe-inspiring - just try and gaze at it for awhile while outside.

Inside is busy although we were not there during the rush hour. However, photos are only permitted with "permission" so we were told to move on and out again!

The peak hour crowds are well-known - if you are brave, that is!
We chickened out and arrived after the masses had departed.

It's the exterior of the building that is most worthy of a visit - very beautiful.

The place is highly crowded. But you can get everything from the station itself. A good place to be seen once.

Well let me tell you folks, I would highly recommend taking a glass of sugar cane juice at a nearby vendor and then going to CST! Make sure it is at night for the highest level of enjoyment. We met up with 3 young Indain dudes, one Muslim, one Hindu and the other one a Christian who by the way were all the best of friends. What a friendly bunch indeed. We are kind of older but got along great with these guys. In fact we met them in some nearby kind of seedy bar, like a working mans bar. They insisted taking us to the CST that evening and on the way we had our first try of the cane juice, wow, what a rush of energy! It was dark by then and by golly does Mumbai ever come alive at night! CSTwas simply facinating. I got a sore neck from looking up a lot at all the incredible sculpting that is part of the amazing architecture. High ceilings with pillars and large open areas and the detail of the craftmanship within this structure as a whole is awesome. We walked all over the place including up and down the boarding platforms, doing our level best to weave through the colorful crowds of people and avoiding any collisions which would draw a scowled glance if it did happen, but all part of the fun. The Indian people are so friendly and in a word brilliant. Definitely go and experience the life and juicyness this place has to offer. Peter from Nolalu.

Don't compare it with a photo. To see in naked eye is awesome. It is a different world heritage-- because this heritage has the largest footfalls per minute. It is a railway station--- on of the largest in the world. You need not visit it, you are bound to visit it. The only heritage site in the world where every amenities from bathroom to sleeping room is there to welcome you.

"Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus" (CST), formerly known as 'Victoria Terminus' is a beautiful hitorical monument. .This world heritage site and historic railway station in Mumbai is the headquarters of Central Railway. We can really feel the architecture at its best. It is a good location for photography. The suburban network of CST operates more than 1500 services and carries millions of commuters everyday.
