We visited Nom Nom for lunch of Sunday with kids and friends. The decor is slick and and seating is quite well laid out to give every table a private experience. Service is prompt and the food is good not great (note that I am a vegetarian). The non-vegetarian food seems to be better as I could see from our friends experience. Overall a great value for money!

Went to check out the new place as is common among any Bandraite. Was pleasantly surprised by the ambience , the seating arrangement , just the right amount of lighting and all that.

Considering that we had opted out of Yauatcha as it was raining and all that , Nom-nom had the bar right up there. We were pleasantly surprised by the fare served. Right from the vegetable soups to the khaoshwey. Couple of chicken dishes and the egg fried rice , were all superb and yummilicious.

Also thought the food was pretty inexpensive and the quantity was adequate by any standards.

Other then parking the car in the crowded neighborhood and getting in to the restaurant , rest is relaxing once inside.

We ordered food from here, as we had received some decent recommendations from friends who had been there. We ordered two sweet corn chicken soups, and the dry chicken in oyster chilly sauce as an appetizer. However, once the food arrived, the quantities were appalling. The plastic container it was put in, was not even half full! It was a pittance.

The soup tasted sweet, as though sugar had been added in it. We had to add tons of soya sauce and pepper and vinegar (derived from my kitchen, as the accompanying "sauces" sent along with the food was a pitiful packet of GREEN PUDINA CHUTNEY and some ORANGE TOMATO CHUTNEY which is normally eaten with dosas!)

The bill was unreasonable for the pitiful quantity and the quality of the food. After calling up the restaurant we were informed that there were added taxes.

Perhaps going there and being there in person would help in changing my perspective. For a home delivery, they definitely failed however.

Nom nom - Not so yum yum :(:(:(

Saturday night dining in one of the city's most busiest, traffic congested localities can be quite cumbersome. But then again it is Saturday & after a grueling & almost unforgiving week at work, its almost necessary to step out & 'let your hair down' so to speak.

A couple of friends & i decided to walk down to Nom Nom (Bandra) - a restaurant serving South East asian cuisine - which would include Thai, Burmese, Indonesian, Japanese, Singaporean, Malaysian.

The interiors are suitably adorned with low seating lounge & table arrangements. The atmosphere is well suited for a typical bustling saturday night with family, friends & couples occupying the restaurant. Polite waiters on standby hovering around with menus and orders.

We ordered a couple of starters. The sushi selection was quite moderate, surprisingly 'warm'. The main dishes were decently portioned & tasty enough to fill the belly. I ordered the Burmese khao shwey purely because its a family special & i haven't had anything closest to how its made at home so decided to give it a go.

The curry was delicious, the prawn pieces generous & juicy. However, as with most places the condiments served were not the entire lot. But good enough. The boys seemed satisfied with their orders of the basa prepared differently. But as one of them observantly mentioned ' good enough for the price but not authentic enough to be called south east Asian cuisine'

The best part about yummy meals is if there's anything left over - it always makes for a delightful midnight snack or an early breakfast. And with the next day being the glorious sinful Sunday i decided to have the leftovers packed. I had left enough curry & a couple of prawn pieces left to doggy bag. Well fed troopers, we left.

The next morning surfacing from a hours of well deserved sleep i prepared myself for a delightful breakfast of dinner left overs. And i was quite horrified to find JUST the curry without the pieces of leftover prawn. And quite upset. So i called the restaurant & informed them of my unfortunate discovery. Not that it was an entire meal or they left out half the order but it had to be brought to their notice.

And that's when the service made all the difference. The young man on the other end of the line instantly looked into the matter & called me back apologizing profusely. A visual of a server probably popping the last bits of prawn into his mouth before dutifully packing the rest of the curry made the entire situation quite laugh-able.

What was a pleasant surprise & totally uncalled for was 45 minutes later a delivery of the very same order. The delivery boy refused any payment. And i am about to enjoy the delicious meal, ALL OVER AGAIN.

Attention to detail makes such a difference. At the end of the day its about being treated as royalty regardless of how good or bad the food tastes.

At NOM NOM maybe the food won't be so great but the service will make you want to come back for more.
