“A great place to linger”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2013

The formerly Prince of Wales Museum combines both natural historical and art historical collections. It is a great place to linger, either if you want to see some art historical pieces (from India, but also from the European past), or if you want to entertain your children. Fascinating temporary exhibitions, often in collaboration with important collections from elsewhere in the world (which gives a good idea of the museum's international importance as well). The building in itself is also a true jewel, and just hanging around in the lush gardens, watching school children come by is also a great idea, all the more if you're looking for a spot to take cute pictures of Mumbai's locals.

“Very impressive exhibitions”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2013

This is a beautiful spot to visit and one can easily spend 2-3 hours perusing the exhibits. The staff are helpful in answering questions. We enjoyed a lovely coffee break at the cafe by the entry gate. Nice way to spend an afternoon in South Mumbai.

This was one of the last things I did in India and I was very surprised to find such a high quality of art there.

“Some wonderful exhibits for a quick tour of Indian culture.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2013

This museum was a real revelation. I wasn't expecting much given the Lonely Planet review I had read but was really surprised.
Highlights:
-The building itself
-The photographs of Mumbai during the Raj
-The amazingly vicious armoury
-The statues to the right of the front entrance

The cafe isn't up to much but you can get water and potato chips.
Like everywhere in Mumbai, it's absolutely heaving with people and leaves you exhausted after a couple of hours.
